You should give it another try.
I was really surprised by this movie.

I originally just rented it and ended up buying it after I saw it.
Really enjoyed the plot.

finally downloaded an english version of the movie and ill give it a go, as i live in aust they never released it here which is annoying took he ages to find it

It is a better film than you expect and has great cameos from Kane Hodder and Robert Englund as well as a few others.

I dunno, unless there's some great payoff in the end, I feel the opposite. It's not living up to all the hype, despite the cameos. I'll give it another go tonight.

xphilx's feelings seem to echo what mine were, though I haven't seen it since its first release. The idea was good, the execution was OK, but ultimately I came away not feeling like it was anything special. Of course, half-way decent = excellent in relation to most modern-day horror movies. At least they were original in a sense and not torture porn or crappy poltergeist movie.

I was amused by it until the end, where it turns into a typical slasher if I recall. If you didn't find anything unique in the setup you won't find it in the end.

That said, I do appreciate what they were trying to do and I'd give a sequel a shot before I'd watch 5 minutes of another Saw movie.

100% agree... problem is alot of horror movies today are low budget and dont have the money to turn a good story into a great story

and by the sounds on it the 2nd movie if it ever comes out wont have any more of a budget than the 1st

The last decent non slasher fun Horror i watched was this little film Grabbers

I contacted them about the figures i'l get some in for the shop as i doubt there will be a UK distributor. I like the look of the Kane Hodder figure sat in the chair. This may well be the company that picks up the licenses for those little Horror films that the big guys dont.I still think there is a call for the slasher figures. I remember a company announcing a line of Cult figures like the Prowler and then just disappearing into obscurity.

feel the same about it. I do really like the movie I loved most of it I was just very disappointed in the ending. It had a great set up and getting to know the guy was pretty cool. I liked it more than I thought I Would.

But my problem with the movie was

They are talking about cliches and why they happen or what do they mean, the reporter girl Knows this. Yet at the end she does everything she was not supposed to do and everything she Knew he was going to do. Why the hell spend so much time setting up the characters when they were going to end up acting as stupid as characters do in these movies? I hated that

It's the idea. The idea is incredibly original. You have to really enjoy meta horror to like the flick, though. If you watch it as a straight up slasher, it's not going to work. It's a comedy, satire on horror slashers. But it actually gives insight to how characters interact in this environment, and why they do stupid things.

Cabin In the Woods did a similar thing with it, but they took a different approach. Both work. But BTM is a bit more grounded, and has a nice sense of realism.

The ending does pay off, but not in a "HOLY **** WOW!" but more like "
Huh, this is interesting. "

A lot of people don't like meta horror stuff. So it's all up to preference. I found the movie to be funny as hell, with a lot of great nods to classic horror tropes.
