To those whos saw both the SDCC proto and the production piece, how far did Sideshow deviate from the proto?
The proto is the preferred version right?

The proto is painted by a professional, at the top of their game. Highly payed and given as long as it takes.
The production piece is painted by a factory worker; probably on mininum wages, with a tight deadline on how many they produce.

Not making excuses just being realistic. Don't expect proto quality with Sideshow.
That said, I'm still liking what I'm seeing. People with unrealistic expectations are going to be disappointed.

I feel like there might be so many cancellations that my WL might actually convert. And yet...after digesting even Transient's great pics for a day I'm not sure I'll keep my order. Red Sonja actually does have a good amount of crossover appeal for me but the more I look at it the more I'm leaning toward, "cool," but not "oh my gosh that's so unbelievably awesome I don't care that it's $400 take my money" cool. Which is what these statues really need to be for the price.

Dude has got a big noggin.

I think the description says frost giant, right?

#197 about to open up the box lol

Looking forward to your pics and thoughts, man!

EDIT: box looks more compact than I was expecting. That's good news to me as I don't have a car right now. I thought all PFs come in boxes as huge as the latest Batman PF.

Wow 5 pages and that's on my Tapatalk. Can only imagine how many it is on the site. Okay guys update: just picked her up, she's in my car. Going to meet a friend real quick and go home to unpack this beauty. The box is weird, it's like a flat square lol

I love Sonja and happy to purchase her! I will display her with my ARH Conan diorama so also very excited:) But I am not agree with your statement. If you are right, then it is so meaningless to call these figures HIGH-END! If they make a promise to us which we will receive a product just as the proto, then their chinese workers have to be pro at their job? Aren't they? In fact we all know that these products are far away from high-end just because you were right at your statement but we choose not to believe that:) Even the ES doesn't mean something when we know these products are painted by some factory workers who are not at the top of their game! These products are produced in China just because everything is cheap there even human-life! So why are we paying so much? Because we are fools:) We love those characters so much that we couldn't stop ourselves! And we try not to believe to have statues which are produced and painted by someone who are not professionals!

seems like the statues with hardly any paint application involved turn out the best. Like the Superman PF which hardly has any fine paint application. Something like the Red sonja has more detailing involved. What do you all think?

Yep, sculpts and tailoring are SSC's strong suits. But they so drop the ball on paint apps that they ruin entire statues because of it. Other companies figure out how to get "minimum wage factory workers" to paint their figures properly, SSC *really* needs to catch up and get in the game.

Nice pics. Was on the fence but definitely want now.

I think statues with monstrous appearances + none-human skin tone are easier to render perfectly even at mass production. The new Hellboy PF is outstanding, I can only wish I have more space and of course, money.

We all want to receive a prototype match. I'm just being realistic.
Everyone knows the item delivered won't match the proto. Shame but that's the reality.
