Probably, but I like to think some ape in the future will be heavily invested in reading about my hatred of Rey, and the ape thinking Rey is some ex girlfriend who left me for some old guy named Luke or something.

Unveiled the He Man woman haters in the group.
We also have the obligatory "agenda" conspirator group.
Now we have the "lone wolf" Baiters

You do know Disney is using female leads in an attempt to widen the base right? Same reason we are having multiracial characters.....I do not remember one single Asian in OT or PT.(well one Asian b-wing that got blown to bits) They are now prominent characters in every major release...including DC and Marvel. The world is a bigger place...so why wouldn't a film include these forgotten people in the new films? Black people want a SW hero too you know....

As far as Leia being a strong lead.....Yah she choked a slug in a bikini, and shot a couple of troopers....but in the end...her main plot point was who was she going to be romantically linked with......that's about it.

To truly make her a strong female lead... she should have been involved in the saber fight with Vader, (lost the obligatory romantic sub plot), and maybe had her own ship that SHE was the best flyer. To be fair , at the time, this sort of character was inconceivable.

She should have been , well, Kinda like Rey.......( I personally hope they leave a romantic plot out of the next films...its unneeded.)

And this is the problem.

Its not enough to just craft a strong character who is independent and capable.

She has to both be the best at absolutely everything she tries, lack any flaws, demonstrate no weakness even in things which she only recently gained awareness off, and not express any romantic desires (a basic human drive and subplot in most movies) even though any of her male counterparts would be downright boring if they didn't include these character traits to humanize them and demonstrate an arc.

Literally anything less than a Mary Sue is sexist. It isn't enough to just have a well written character. She has to be perfect too.
