I just have 3 episodes to go and definitely love this series. It would be great if they can get Paul Dini to write a couple of episodes next season.

Also got a kick out of the Easter eggs (from King Tut to Fleischer Lois Lane). I googled the latter this morning to see if anyone else caught the Lois cameo and found this photo from DC Film News. I didn’t notice when I saw the episode but they must have stuck Jimmy next to her as well. Wonder if we’ll get a Clark cameo next season or perhaps a Superman appearance.

Update: Just finished the series and if you like Easter eggs, you'll love Episode 8. My biggest gripes is how they portrayed Harvey Bullock
and
the loss of one villain by the end of the series

Really looking forward to season 2

I'm 4 episodes in and also loving it. Timm, Brubaker and company doing a great job. Definitely in the spirit of the animated series on terms of tone, story, and style. Darker but appropriately so, like an extension of mask of the phantasm. I don't personally mind the gender and race swaps at all as they don't detract from the story or take anything away from the characters.

Batman's icy treatment of Alfred is a bit jarring as I don't remember ever seeing him act this way in comics or other media, but again, it works here and is logical in the context of Bruce's drive and unwillingness to do much self examination.

Very excited to see where things go from here. With this and xmen 97 we are in a very good place with comic animation.

I like it. Didn't know about Penguin being sex swapped but no issues from me. So far reminds me as a spiritual sequel to BTAS

I'm enjoying it so far but it's weird that they chose to have it set in the 1930/40s when nothing apart from the aesthetic is a representation of the 30/40s in the least bit.

Is it weird I don’t really like the show? And no it’s not because of the gender or race swapping

Makes no sense that Catwoman got off the hook when she literally assaulted a police officer whilst attempting to flee. Guys sitting in the court room with 3 huge gashes across his face. Even if there is corruption it only goes so far.

Yea idk just something off about the show. Like I like the Harley episode but her change kinda came out of nowhere lol. Like we see her in three episodes or 4 prior then suddenly she’s like Harley Quinn out of nowhere and seems to of been doing it for awhile. Like nobody picked up on her before?

Might have benefited from longer episodes. Feels like they're going through plot points really quick.

Loved it. A strong first season!
Putting Batman back in a time period where he can be truly remarkable while representing our diverse society, was inspired! When we got our first glimpse, it was the time period that first had me worried. “More of the same old thing,” I thought. Now I get it.
Well written, great dialogue and voice acting. I enjoyed the little nods and tributes ( like Batman’s phone number and its connection to his first comic book appearance). Looking forward to a (hopefully) 2nd season!

At first I found the technology and the diversity a bit jarring but then I remembered it's not our world. Comics are all set in alternate realities. It's not even set in a real city. Just gotta accept that things are different in that world.

It's a good cartoon, it's a good idea that it takes place in the past, it gives charm, like the fact that Gordon works with corrupt police officers, at the same time it's strange because it's not not really for children, there are murders on screen.

I'm afraid that there's a bit too many pieces of the puzzle being shifted around with this one for me. BTAS was a straightforward jump-in, even for those only loosely familiar with the character. BCC comes off like an Elseworlds one-shot where core character traits have been shifted around if only to jolt overly-familiar readers. It may be fun for an issue or two, but I cannot see myself committing to it in the long run.
