Violence and language. The classifications are more stringent now than they were 30+ years ago.
This all makes sense but you have just highlighted what a stupid system it is. My kids have watched the first three but now all of a sudden the man is telling us they can’t watch this one. Same with the Terminator films. Dark Fate is the only one rated MA.I don't think older films have been reclassified, they're just classifying newer films with a higher rating with similar themes of older movies. With Beverly Hills Cop Axel F, they have rated violence and language under high impact, which gives it an MA15+ rating. The previous films only rated violence and language as moderate impact.
I don't believe the older Beverly Hills Cop movies have been reclassified to a lower age here.
I’m ignoring ratings from now on and using Common Sense Media and the parents guide on Imdb to make any calls.
