I was so happy to see someone say that the hair pieces detract from the likeness! It’s something I’ve thought to myself many times with a number of different figures, but not something I’ve ever seen discussed before!I picked this figure up from ToysBuyingAgent. It was 'on sale'. After shipping it was about $330, which would've been the same price Stateside. So I feel like it was a 'deal' considering I got it basically for 'retail price' even though it's not available locally anymore.
First Hot Toys figure in a long time. First DX in a long, long time. First time with the new non-PERS eyes. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to get them to work. Turns out one of the eyes was stuck in place, and that's why the tool wasn't moving the eye. The right eye could move, but the left eye was stuck.
Oddly enough, the headsculpt looks amazing without either hair piece on it, but either of the hair options detract from the likeness. The 'messy' hair version looks a smidge better so that's what I'll stick with.
I realized I needed this figure once the ROTJ Vader turned out pretty good. Once upon a time, I had this vision to pair movie posters with their corresponding figures. ANH = Farmboy/Obi-Wan/Vader, ESB = Bespin/Yoda/Vader, ROTJ = Jedi Knight/Palpatine/Vader.
It's only now, at this moment, I realized the poster I have includes Snowspeeder Luke, not Bespin Luke.
Just curious why you wanted to take the clothes off this figure?Just got my DX Luke in. First thing I did was take a blade to the stitching so I could take the outfit off the figure. It's sewn down the front for the battledress blouse and that is stitched to the trousers to stop it riding up. The trousers are also stitched together at the top, despite there being velcro to keep them together, and also stitched onto the fatsuit underneath.
