I'm still torn on which era I want my Ahsoka Rebels to represent: Rebels or Ahsoka/Mando?

Earlier draws them towards the Jyn Erso figures and K-2SO; 0-0-0 and BT-1, plus ANH Han and Chewie from their Brian Daley trilogy period.

However, Sabine is inseparable from Shin, which really puts them all amongst the Mando figures and TBOBF Fennec.

While rearranging my figures so I'd be able to place the Bo-Katan I ordered today with Koska, and the free Dark Trooper with his mate, it came to me to display Chopper, Sabine, Hera and Ahsoka the White between the two eras. Hence they could go either way.

Chopper needs to be next to BT-1, so that begins to dictate an order for the various characters.

Well the thing is, for me, that this Mando movie is probably gonna be a mash-up of everyone in that time frame; am sure Chopper will appear...but knowing that plan I promised myself that I'd stick to Mando "origins" and chrome Mando was it, along with BOBF

And I'd ratchet back :rotfl
except for "select" pieces like the mythical re-release of farmboy Luke, or Baylan just because he looked so good. I'd make an exception for Ezra's Ahsoka look. (Like, I don't see the point of re-buying Bo-Katan just for rooted hair).

I didn't want to go down the Rebels hole in 1/6 $$$$$$.

I was originally going to collect the Bad Batch crew because the figures looked good, but I couldn't get around how early-Empire they were - too close to the Clone era.

My interest in Star Wars essentially starts from the Brian Daley Han Solo and L. Neil Smith Lando trilogies, and currently ends around 9-12 ABY with the Mandalorian, TBOBF, and Ahsoka series.

It got stuck in my head that the trilogies were set about 5 BBY, the same time that Rebels began, but according to Wookieepedia they were 3-1 BBY.

So my collecting interest is really 5 BBY -12 ABY.

The Solo movie was set in 10 BBY, though there were only a few figures, and most of them work for a later time, e.g., Maul died in 2 BBY.

The Patrol Trooper is one of my favourite trooper designs, and has always reminded me of the generic planetary security you'd see on the covers of old sci-fi novels. Hence he's currently standing with ANH Han and Chewie evoking the Daley era.

I worked out my display since my last post, and rearranged the figures, placing pieces of paper with the names of the characters yet to arrive in their assigned positions. :lol

Grouped from left to right, representing the few years preceding ANH: Hot Toys' Clone Wars Ahsoka, the three Jyn Ersos, K-2SO, ANH Han, Chewie, Patrol Trooper, 0-0-0 and BT-1. Then, because I can't make my mind up when they should be: Chopper, Hera, Ahsoka the White and Sabine, leading to Shin and Baylan. After that it's open season for any characters from the 9-12 ABY era series.

There's one complication: Padawan Ahsoka from the World Between Worlds. Though I guess the answer lies in that sentence itself: she's a vision of the past, though it's a past I don't intend to delve any deeper into. (HT Dooku remains a problematic figure in the collection already).

:exactly:

Love the Bad Batch too; but for me it's one of those things where I can only "triage" to my most favorite and have to let go of the rest - or, pick up a 1/10 IS or a Mezco or Hasbro. If the show had been primarily about Ezra - whose arc I quite like - well, then I would have gotten Ezra, Chopper, and probably Sabine.

On the other hand, I wouldn't put it past HT to put out Ezra after Chopper is sold out. :pfft:Maybe I'll just go for a HASBRO version like my R5. I couldn't honestly tell myself I'd work a lot with the droids I have, they are more to enhance a display. So is that worth 240$ to me. 😱
I'm actually kind of glad they didn't announce Ezra. I love the character and the arc, but I didn't love his Ahsoka costume. I'm hoping next time we see him, he'll be wearing something a little more akin to his Rebels looks (like Hera, Sabine, and Zeb).

Chopper looks fantastic and I can't wait to get him. Although disappointed to see that they apparently removed the lightup function (for that red bar on the side of his head). It was mentioned in the product description, but according to MRC it doesn't have one.
Pretty sure there never was a light up feature to begin with

I tend to like my characters medieval/scruffier/long hair. I'd be happy with the Ezra look, to me it telegraphed a character I like dealing with his circumstances. I don't want the Ezra with his later military buzz. Tho in theory I guess something like that would be easy to overglue with fiber.

Yeah they probably never even bothered with it, since they knew most people wouldn't use it anyway. But I'm a stickler for accuracy so will add it to mine. And it should at least be a lot less work than my BB-8 mod.
Awesome. Did you share that BB-8 mod on here?

Ideally, he'll have longer, shaggy hair and a beard still. I expect him to wear comfortable clothes, but I always liked that he and Kanan DIDN'T dress like space wizards, visually showing the difference between them and standard Jedi. Kind of like Baylan's and Shin's awesome looks that are evocative of traditional Jedi robes but also showcase the armor and the more draconian, military stylings. To me it all gives a much less monolithic view of the Jedi and their practices.

Yeah I frankly thought it was a cooler look for Ezra than the ridiculous Rebels outfit he wore, and that we saw briefly in the hologram.

I think I;'m just gonna a get the Hasbro version posted a page or two back in the thread. It scales pretty well, is WAY cheaper and will get the job done for what I'm after.

HT will prob do stormtrooper disguise if they do him then make it a limited exclusive. Modified stormtrooper armour, altered paint scheme and new head only means less development time and money required plus it can double as an alternate night trooper. 2 birds one stone.

As for Chopper, since we are talking imperial disguises, hopefully Hasbro do an imperial disguise version of the animatronic toy. I would happily skip the standard one when it finally appears in local stores and just buy the disguise version if they did. Pretty much just a simple repaint.

Yeah, I carefully watched the unboxing vid; not knocking the HT but....gotta admit I was a bit disappointed in the HT not having metal arms - tho not sure how that would have worked out. No light-up even tho it's a feature I don't use much.

For my purposes think the HASBRO will do. Target has a 25% on 1 kids toys if delivery is used to the 16th.

Sounds like you just need, what, five of each for the various displays and you'll be good! :)
