I guess I am in the minority but I don’t think DST LOTR figures are that bad. I actually think some of them turned out really well and are upgrades from the old ToyBiz figures.
I think the problem with the DST figures is that ToyBiz simply set the bar too high, and DST barely matches what was all those years ago.

That's not to say they didn't have a ton of duds, but ToyBiz was killing it with the scanned likenesses.

Once the line reached its twilight years and they stared putting out more super articulated figures over action feature ones, they really peaked.

I think DST is just that, -fine- in the shadow of an uncomprable legacy.
 
I am confused about which toybiz sculpts we're talking about.

The ones I see look freakin' awful, way worse than these figuarts.

lol. Aragorn was one of their hardest ones to do well. Their super posable Helms Deep one was one of their better ones for him. At the time the line was overall fantastic and cutting edge. Its shear depth of characters was probably the largest for a movie series outside of Star Wars.
