They’re running out the gate with 3 reveals already, could have the whole Fellowship in under 3 years.

I guess I am in the minority but I don’t think DST LOTR figures are that bad. I actually think some of them turned out really well and are upgrades from the old ToyBiz figures.
I think the problem with the DST figures is that ToyBiz simply set the bar too high, and DST barely matches what was all those years ago.

That's not to say they didn't have a ton of duds, but ToyBiz was killing it with the scanned likenesses.

Once the line reached its twilight years and they stared putting out more super articulated figures over action feature ones, they really peaked.

I think DST is just that, -fine- in the shadow of an uncomprable legacy.

I am confused about which toybiz sculpts we're talking about.

The ones I see look freakin' awful, way worse than these figuarts.

lol. Aragorn was one of their hardest ones to do well. Their super posable Helms Deep one was one of their better ones for him. At the time the line was overall fantastic and cutting edge. Its shear depth of characters was probably the largest for a movie series outside of Star Wars.

These look absolutely horrible, let's be honest here. It's one of the worst Legolas headsculpts I've seen in a figure. Same with Gollum, my god it's hideously laughable. Frodo and Aragorn are meh. Not as bad as the other two but not good neither. And let's not forget their price will be 70$ aprox.

I've been very critical with Diamond Select, with their comic like faces and the bad product desing choices that give you for example loose scabbards that you can't put in the figure or hands that don't hold the weapon they come with correctly. They are a disaster in many ways, but when I see Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Sam, Saruman at least I see a resemblance. Merry and Pippin faces are quite outstanding. Aragorn and Boromir bad, yes, but hell, they are 25 per figure. And after selling Sauron I got all the baf figures almost for free.

You can put toy biz Aragorn as many times as you like. They never captured him properly, maybe the best is the council of Elrond Aragorn and they did some meme worth attempts, that's the true. But at least be fair and try to compare some of the toybiz Legolas versions(two towers for example) to this figuarts one, or frodo, or gollum. Search for the best versions of other characters that toy biz absolutely nailed (Eomer, Elrond Eowyn,Arwen, Theoden, Frodo, Sam Merry and Pippin armored, or the Epilogue 5 pack with Bilbo etc) more than 20 years ago.

Bandai Figuarts dropped the ball with these LOTR figures and they should have backlash for it.

Provide the examples yourself, put the leg work in.

*Real rose tinted glasses for that line around here. They were good at the time, but they absolutely don’t hold up.

I'm honestly positively surprised. Figuarts excel at anime stuff, with a mid to low resemblance when realism is the name of the game.

I can see that it's Aragorn, Frodo and Gollum. They look pretty ok. Legolas though...that's bad.

Why coming to market with such a poor quality in such a beloved universe? This gollum gives nightmares.

Say what you will but this Legolas looks way better than DS which I own. I’m preordering all of these and Legolas is subject to licensor approval so it will only improve hopefully.

The SH Figuarts is closer to the face shape of the statue and the FOTR movie stills.

Happy to see a thread for these, I haven't owned LOTR figs since the toybiz days, big childhood line, these look good imo, my only issue is accessories, aragorn should have a bow that can be held and used, similar to the endgame Hawkeye figure,

I'm in for a couple of each though, I also want some more assurance they will complete the line, I want fellowship out the gate with some villains sprinkled in. Give us an army builder, ring wraiths (witching w/armor plz) and some Rohirim, like Eomer namely, need everything they can possibly give us
