So just to confirm- John refuses to paint the new yixie teeth sculpt?
Any chance you'll post a plain old "figure on my desk" shot in regular light?

perfect, thank you. couldnt place my finger on it till now. it looked eerily familiar to me
look forward to see how he handles the hair. sorta just taking this project with hands off and let the master do his thing lol time to forget that th is project is even a thing till late next year

Me too ! I'm very excited to see the sample.
He told me he will work on it "soon", I don't have any precise date.
I'm lucky enough to have a few spots in 2025 so mine should be done sooner.
As soon as I get it i'll share as much pictures as possible here.

im still tossing and turning whether to send dx32 head to black or him, both can do it well. or even mxsixthscale just as long as the artists don't touch the eyes. the only way id let them touch the eyes is if its something like black making the whites of the eyes a little red to give it that veiny look like he did with inart's sculpt
Kinda crazy that if you bought a recast sleepy and sent it to Yuan.. you'd still be paying double the money to get it worked. And for what will end up an inferior sculpt at that (because John works that particular one better)

To address the drama, I can understand both sides of the argument, but it ultimately comes down to the initial agreement.
Does Yi Xie retain the rights to rework somebody's commission, and sell it again to a different party?
Those terms should be laid out on the outset. And whichever the case, honored per agreement.
Still, Yi Xie would be right to inform John about the project (even if not to ask for permission per say).
If John feels betrayed (and if he's right to feel that way) then I wouldn't want to support the other party.
Personally, I would love to see that smiling sculpt that Captain Clown shared... And it would be best to see it handled under John's approval.

You got a spot with Heise?
If so, I wouldn't waste it on the Hot Toys / ambrosia sculpt (although admittedly, the rolling eyes are tempting). But I think John would do well with it.
Save something extra special for Heise.
Heise would still be my top choice for the sleepy, if I could get him to do it. However, looking at John's recent work, I don't feel I'm terribly missing out. But I do ideally want the BEST painter, for the BEST sculpt.

its hard to say when you're not the party involved
anyone with integrity would have sense of seeing how a person is trying to copy an exact sculpt. maybe nancy sees it as an easy paycheck so she was happy to charge however much just for a small revision. her commission price is 2500. whether it was something agreed upon or approved by john, I'm not sure.
arirang and nancy copied adam gu's smiling sculpt (v2) and no one said **** about it but I guess because it was actually sculpted ground up, just heavily inspired by that sculpt.
usual cases, person who owns and has the 3d file has full authority over it. many artists know this fact and charge more, especially if the person intends to produce more copies to make money off of it. sometimes it needs to be disclosed with artists, sometimes not since their priced is baked in, whether its OOAK or project run

i dont mind the wait, I'm already waiting for 2 sculpts to get done
I was initially thinking of mus for paint and hair since I don't want anyone to **** with the eyes hot toys has, but since john came in I was eyeballing him. might go with him just for science sake like diostar said lol have a little bit here and there with different artists

people modify nancy sculpts all the time (like arirang and john wu) so whether or not his friend got a copy of his 3d file of v1 and modified it like how he's doing with his v2, its strictly between them
stories like this happen all the time here like with yuan and black. both artists friends, one sharing techniques and trade secrets for yuan to use it and build up his own empire

It does, that's why I won't support Yuan anymore and I sold my headsculpt from him.
And I won't support GNTE anymore either.
That's me and me only, that's how I work. Doesn't mean I'm right or wrong.
I'm not forcing anyone to do like me by the way, everyone do as they want and according to their own interests.
GNTE's headsculpt will be a great addition to any Joker collectors.
