Yeah with NT's obsession with getting TWOK right (remaking the jacket multiple times because the color isn't quite perfect, or reworking the Saavik sculpt at the last minute), it's surprising to see something like this slip through.

It doesn't bother me quite as much as it does you, but it's still something they need to fix.
I bet he never acknowledges it or will come up with a reason why “e”xperts are wrong.

While we continue to mostly heap unabashed praise on EXO Saavik, I noticed one more nit to pick other than the high collar.

When the Away Team beamed down to Regula One and Saavik was operating the "Heavy Duty" Tricorder, she operates the unit with her Right hand while holding the TWOK Phaser in her (Sexy) Left hand. Yet there is no dedicated Left hand Phaser holding hand included in the set. This is an unfortunate oversight on EXO's part as I'm sure many of us were planning to rock the Tricorder/Phaser look with the Away jacket.

In some promo pictures, I seem to recall EXO forcing a Phaser into her Communicator holding hand which just looks awkward as Hell.

No deal breaker by any means, just another seemingly unforced error from the production team. I wonder if there's a female hand out there we could use as a stand in.

Was Kirstie left-handed? When it comes to phasers, I think most Trek actors just use whichever hand is best for the shot, or that isn't already busy holding something else. It's not something they really need to use their dominant hand for.

These are still my absolute favorite phasers by the way.

Well, she had quite a few ambidextrous moments in TV and Movie parts, but I'd have to say see is likely Right Hand dominant.

But the point is that in this scene in TWOK (arguably the best example of her using most of her most key accessories in the film) she is clearly carrying the Phaser in her (Sexy) Left Hand, and that this iconic look with the Away Jacket and those accessories is close to impossible to recreate with the provided hand choices.

Look how sexy that Left hand is!

I am rocking this very pose. You can get a phaser in her left hand, but it is a bit of a balancing act.

The jacket being more poofy might just be an artifact of the fact that when you get this small, that's really freakin' hard. It's why until you get to like $1000 figures, if you compare the clothing, everything looks at least a little bit... diapery... barbie'ish... some hiding it more than others. You can't make threads small enough and it's just a tough problem.

Boy

How far TWOK has improved from his 1.0 version . Here is my V1.0 TWOK Spock and my custom Khan from ages ago. Here’s hoping the EXO version is an improvement 🙃

just got Saavik in! swapped out the away jacket for a few photos. i do really like the magnets embedded inside the tunic to keep the flaps aligned--really smart and convenient design.

really impressed with the tailoring of the away jacket! just have to pinch it a little in the back to make it a little more fitted for photos.

Guys

Give credit where credit due. The AWay Jacket alone is worth the price of admission!

If this figure does well, I imagined Kirk TWOK would do 5 -10X the business !

I got my Kabayashi Saavik a few days ago, and to my surprise, although the collar is still a bit tall, it is also pliable enough (dare I say posable?) that I was able to pull it down in front to form a subtle V Shape which shows a bit more neck, and from the right camera angle, it almost looks accurate! This was not the case with my Regula version.
