    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Just wanted to post some pics of the famous stabbing pose. Had her like this until recently when I moved her into a new cabinet. Now she has her helmet back on and is in the moment just before this scene!

    Asmus Toys : Aragorn thread

Every once in a while fortune favors the attentive and I'll get really really lucky on ebay. This happened when I found a NIB Aragorn from a Canadian seller who mysteriously did not put a minimum opening bid, and listed it with the auction closing during July 4th weekend. Bottom line I got this...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Sorry for the tardy response as I haven't been checking in as often as I used to. I noticed you also posted on my OSW thread but for some reason I don't get notification from them anymore. There's not much more I can add about dremeling other than to go slow and stop when you are satisfied. I...

ACI Toys: 1/6 ARAGORN (Improved Production Copy updated!)

Thanks to all for the kind comments! And to those who don't like it, well... :pfft::lol (just kidding!) Neko, thanks for the excellent analysis of the figure's pros and cons, and for the comparison pics, which are very helpful. You said it better than I could. And, if that's your Aragorn you...

ACI Toys: 1/6 ARAGORN (Improved Production Copy updated!)

Hi all, Just wanted to post some pics of my Aragorn that I customized a bit. Nowhere near the rebuild level of my Eowyn but it still got more involved than I expected. Swapped the body, re-dyed the shirt, cut and styled the hair, touched up the beard, remade all the cording on the clothes...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

That looks fantastic, great job SithThundercracker! Just goes to show how a little work can really make this figure shine. It's remarkable how shortening the legs really makes a difference. That cape is also much better; glad my tips were helpful!

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Took some pics outside today, tried to replicate the look of Eowyn at the waypoint with sun hitting her hair from behind (see above for reference movie still): Take heart, Merry. It will soon be over.

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Thanks superdoug! This project pushed me to learn loads of new techniques and also hone my old skills. Feels great to be done!

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Unfortunately there is no way to remove the cuirass without cutting it. Just use a sharp x-acto and slice along the joint where they glued it on the left side. On my earlier posts showing the baldric WIP sitting on the loose cuirass you can see where I cut it. Once you get some separation you...

ACI Toys: 1/6 ARAGORN (Improved Production Copy updated!)

Just received mine from SkywalkerKush and this is an awesome figure! The only thing I might change is swapping the body for a more poseable, smaller chested one (this one's a little hulky) and using real feet in the boots. Also might try to remove the weathering from the cloak but we'll see...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Some more pics: The last one features an extra head which fortunately had a lighter tone paintjob with less "makeup". Please visit my OSW thread if interested in details.

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Thanks guys! Yeah, bucky, if you count weathering than I modified every single piece on this figure. Remember, I did cut the hair so that counts as the head, right? :lol Actually I did also airbrush the head with Flat Base mixed with Pledge Future to tone down the shine as well as lighten the...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Hi all, I've consolidated and migrated all my WIP posts into one thread over at OSW. I'll no longer post detailed how-to stuff on this thread as it's just too much work double-posting and my WIP has gotten scattered here as this thread has continued. Please visit my Eowyn thread there for more...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

The burnout factor is high. I'm usually all in or all out with my hobbies. I took several years off from 1/6 to fly RC planes but got back in (slowly) the past two or three years. Now it's the RC that's on hiatus 'cause I'm burnt out with that! :o Usually putting together a figure takes me...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

No, this is definitely a high-water mark for me. Although, with 90+ figures and counting, only a handful (probably less than 5) are unmodified straight from boxed sets. Most are customized kitbashes that don't even start as boxed sets, and usually every single piece gets...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Hi all, sorry for the radio silence. I've been hard at work on my Eowyn these past weeks since my last post and am almost ready to show the results. Here's a teaser on what I've been working on... :horror Stay tuned...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Great review abake! You and I are basically in complete agreement, although I'm not particularly fond of the dress personally. You're welcome YDG! It's a nice reference although light on detail.

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

You are absolutely right. The reference pics I've posted and available on the special features galleries are the "ideal" from which they started. I was going to talk about this more when I talk about the cuirass, but since you brought it up I'll chime in now. There are at least two different...

    Asmus Toys: Eowyn in Armor

Interesting how Asmus actually admitted that they deliberately softened the vinyl in the cuirass. So it wasn't a QC problem, they added too much plasticizer on purpose which explains the stickiness and why the paint I applied on the belt never dried. If you look at their pics on that page you...
