A converse question might be why Hard Hero seems to depreciate in value so much. I personally think their stuff is nice. But they must be doing something wrong.

I wonder why Sideshow has not gone to the 1/2 scale bust for UM like they have done with Marvel?

I don't see how time could be worth less than money, as most people spend time to earn money. I am not that hard to please, I just expect statues not to have major defects like large areas where the paint is chipped off. This has happened to me with Sideshow more than once.

I consider it a good thing. My time is money too, and sending something back takes my time.

Another thing is that some online retailers will actually open the product and look to see if there are any flaws before shipping it to you. Not so with Sideshow.

But Sideshow is not really in competition with online retailers. They aren't in the same category.

I actually typically will only buy Sideshow Exclusives direct. I have had some major problems with Sideshow in the past over statue defects, including one statue I had to send back twice, and also shipping problems that were their fault.

Another thing is that I think Sideshow is doing well no matter what. Some of the online retailers probably need your support to stay afloat.

Some of the retailers online have great customer service and sell at a discount. I'm not saying to not buy from Sideshow. Just playing devils advocate.

Yeah but you could probably get the Hard Hero for less than $100 on eBay.

I would rather support my local retailer than Sideshow given a choice though.

Silver Surfer is an exception. The majority of Bowen stuff does not appreciate.

I do want to sell stuff, but these are legitimate questions I also want to know about. So it is a combination of things.

But Bowen and Hard Hero make some good stuff too. Hard Hero can make something in limited edition and its chance of appreciation is almost none.

One thing I have found interested is that Sideshow is the only company that makes Marvel figures that have a reasonable chance of appreciation. Bowen rarely appreciates and is usually available at a discount on eBay. Hard Hero never appreciates and is often available at large discounts on eBay...

I am wondering why anyone would buy Bowen through Sideshow? You can get Bowen through your local retailer and you would have the advantage of looking at the figure beforehand. If you want the reward points, you can typically get the majority of Bowen figures at a substantial discount on eBay.

35 is a really limited number so I am surprised about the Dracula bust. It is not that much more expensive than the Mummy.

Besides the Nosferatu SSE, I don't think any of the SSE editions have really appreciated much in price.
