Hot Toys Back to the Future II - DeLorean - Mods

Started creating the jumper cables. To connect the 5V USBC out to the other boards. You only need two. One to the LED1 board and one from LED1 board to LED2. Didn’t feel like pulling apart existing cables so I made new ones. This just took minutes. Longest time is waiting for the soldering...

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - DeLorean - Mods

Have some good news! Have been pretty busy so wasn’t able to get to this. I have taken a voltmeter and tested every input/output in the few circuit boards under the hood. The USB C port output is about 5.1V which is fully expected. The outputs for LED1 is 4.88V and LED2 is 4.49V from the...

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - 1/6th scale DeLorean Time Machine

I still recommend folks loosen both screws per axle so you get a slight gap before you convert. With this, you can rotate as much as you want without fear. Unscrewing just the bottom one is fine but still creates a slight stress with the bending.

The wheels can definitely roll. Though there’s a bit of friction so it’s more of a “it can roll” but you probably shouldn’t do it often.

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - 1/6th scale DeLorean Time Machine

I’m hoping to see 3D printed modified stands at some point. That’s going to be a big hit. Imagine having a mirrored base with attachment points for the mounts. Being unable to see the cool undercarriage lights has always been a bummer.

The highest point with the passenger door up and measured from bottom to the mirror facing up is 22”

    Amazon reliable for pre-orders?

Yeah, it’s as you said. I wasn’t able to find it available to preorder from anywhere. I’ll keep watch to see if any other seller opens up preorders again but I somewhat doubt it. Sadly I missed out on the initial preorder so when I randomly saw Amazon had it, I just went for it not really...

    Amazon reliable for pre-orders?

Regarding Amazon, I’ve seen numerous posts on how folks had their preorders dropped or cancelled suddenly without an explanation. I recently saw Amazon direct had the afterlife ecto up so I jumped at it since I missed out on the other channels to preorder. I was wondering if there are good...

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - DeLorean - Mods

To answer your question. Yes! Flight mode can be swapped to mode 1. Meaning you can either short the switch or keep it depressed with tape and this can work with an alternative external power switch. I still will solder a wire here to select it but I’ll keep this swapped 😁. We all only want...

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - DeLorean - Mods

I swapped the connectors around but the second wire(for headlights) is too short but can be extended if removing the glue from the wiring.

That’s a good idea! Let me get back to you in a little bit. I’ll try swapping it.

Here is the actual circuit board under the switch. You can very easily solder a wire here and route it outside. As further proof this release may have been rushed, the circuit board here has a date of “2022/11/05”.

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - DeLorean - Mods

You’ll notice several circuit boards and most with extra voltage out connectors. This is perfect for adding additional lighting!

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - DeLorean - Mods

The hood portion can be removed via the screws under the hood and under the windshield wipers. You’d also have to pull out the front grille to access screws that hood onto the front. Remove the wiring on both sides and pull up from the back and it comes out very easily. I’ve circled the...

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - DeLorean - Mods

Figure I start a new thread here for modifications to the Hot Toys BTTF2 Delorean. I’ll start off with opening up the hood to access the circuit boards and the light “switch” for those hoping to route this switch externally. My goal is to solder a wire here to extend a switch outside of my...

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - 1/6th scale DeLorean Time Machine

Yeah. The stand was from “the Bat” hence all the funny looking pegs at the end of it that look out of place. The shorter ones included are like you said for a lower mount of “the Bat” and Hot Toys kind of just rigged an additional piece to slap on to it. Lazy to be honest.

Looks like you have a similar issue as my replacement. Luckily, opening up the wheel is straightforward and not hard to fix. Good luck! I’m glad everything else is good with yours. The panel gaps and door sticking out 1-2mm has been an eye sore for me.

Some examples (Delorean 1 from 2016): None of the panel gap issues or misalignments or panel rubbing. Everything is flush.

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - 1/6th scale DeLorean Time Machine

I don’t recall any issues. Mine was just fine at least. Comparing the two side by side, there are just so many fitment issues with the 2nd/new one. The fit and finish are just bad on the new one. Some examples (Delorean 2): Panel gaps, paint chips from rubbing, misaligned wheel well, door...

Hot Toys Back to the Future II - 1/6th scale DeLorean Time Machine

What sucks is that each replacement is yet another gamble of either another problem or a worst problem. I feel like we’re all just guinea pigs of a social experiment to see how much “fault” we can accept from an expensive product that we really want.
