    Hot Toys MMS 692 + 693 BATMAN (1989) 1/6 scale Batman 2.0

Full frontal, @Scout Trooper ... I tried to correct for lens distortion but its definitely made the chin more pronounced than it actually is.

I guess you mean price-wise? I've only used them once.

    Hot Toys MMS 692 + 693 BATMAN (1989) 1/6 scale Batman 2.0

I think primarily the set of the lips, and twelve years of DX09 imprinting. Like a lot of actors Keaton's face has a certain plasticity to it, and that pursed-lip pseudo-pout thing he had going on for '89 Batman is very much a signature look, especially in the film and the few dozen promo photos...

    Hot Toys MMS 692 + 693 BATMAN (1989) 1/6 scale Batman 2.0

The cape picks up lint and dust pretty easily. Settled on my final pose, though:

Well, definitely not museum pieces. Why not toys? Not playable enough? What are they, then? Ornaments? Curios? A plastic menagerie?

    Movie Heroes Per Decade?

So going by the One Hero method: dominated pop culture or was in some way groundbreaking, seemingly appearing approximately once per decade but that last part's pretty loose-y and goose-y: 1920 - Zorro 1930 - Flash Gordon 1940 - 1950 - 1960 - 1977 - 1983 -- Luke Skywalker 1989 -- Batman 1999 --...

    Avengers Secret Wars - November 7, 2025

Nothing about Doom looks like a good live action villain for today's audiences, but I also wouldn't have bought Iron Man until I saw it with my own eyes, so there is that. Doom is all magical and wears blouses over his armour though ... *somewhere Victor feels a grave disturbance in the Nerd*

    Movie Heroes Per Decade?

This is a good point, now I'm kinda torn between the two. I think Jackman made more impact on general audiences later in his career though.

    Movie Heroes Per Decade?

Well, there are two ways to approach this ... list popular action/genre blockbuster type films that made an impact on pop culture, or narrow it down to a specific character/hero that dominated by decade where possible. I want to say Raimi Spider-Man was bigger than Jackman's Wolverine...

    Movie Heroes Per Decade?

I had thought of him but wasn't sure. No one else comes to mind. Yeah, didn't know when his first appearance was, but that tracks. Directly after I'm thinking Robin Hood and maybe a bunch of Westerns (Errol Flynn comes to mind) but I'm not well-versed. 1920 - Zorro 30's 40's 50's 60's 1977...

Really puts collecting into perspective. 😬

    Movie Heroes Per Decade?

    Fair enough ... so who's got 1920?
  13. ZE_501

    Movie Heroes Per Decade?

Probably just coincidence but it got me thinking; in terms of movie heroes that captured the general public's imagination via a blockbuster film, we seem to get one every 9-10 years ... 1980 -- Luke Skywalker (Indiana Jones was around in '81 but Star Wars was a cultural juggernaut) 1989 --...

    HBO's House of the Dragon

Nailed it. She's a problem. Cole needs to die, I'm tired of his conflicted jock routine. This show doesn't need a brooding quarterback.

    Hot Toys MMS 692 + 693 BATMAN (1989) 1/6 scale Batman 2.0

... as the futzing continues (done in the traditional style, searching images of '89 Bats and cranking the soundtrack) the only thing that really jumps out at me is that rodent-esque face plate. Total miss by HT. Don't know how it got approved. I've fixed the eyes and I'm experimenting with...

    Hot Toys MMS 692 + 693 BATMAN (1989) 1/6 scale Batman 2.0

There are all kinds of anaylses out there already, but what it comes down to is the DX09 lips. They evoke '89 Keaton very, very strongly and there's a certain roundness to the face that also nails it. I still prefer the updated paint, eyes and lack of trapdoor in the head, amongst other things...

    Hot Toys MMS 692 + 693 BATMAN (1989) 1/6 scale Batman 2.0

Well ... I love it. I've owned DX09 and Returns and while it's not perfect, I really feel like this beats both of them. Based on out-of-the-box, first impressions: The default face plate is obviously Keaton to my eyes. The eyes are stunning. The figure feels heavier and more substantial than...
