q tip works to push the plates out, I gave up trying to use the tool to remove the eye plate. if I need to get it back in, I just push it in with my finger broke mine and sideshow sent me a whole cowl replacement so that was nice

yeah magnets, bases look fine and classy for what they are but not reliable stationing your figures. joker shoes are inconsistent with magnet strength, gandalf's base wobbles and batman's base feels too hollow, cheap, and only has 1 magnet connection to the heel
