Unless you are lucky enough to find a real SWS one secondhand I would say recast and repaint or wait it out and hope someone else does one. I got lucky last year or so and found a NIB one(it was $$$ though), but like you I don't care for the coolprops look either so that was my only alternative.

I doubt that retailers ordered most of these and will be stocking this, most people who wanted one would have ordered already. Almost everything Weta isa bit overpriced so that's just normal. If they can get it why should they take less, I wish they would, but it's not happening.

They do, but I think Cinemaquette is the one who actually handles the orders like they do in the US.

Congrats on the pickup. Mine went to Europe a few years ago, it was a great piece for sure, one of the best Terminator pieces you can get. Rechargeable batteries don't leak either, that's all I use now in pretty much everything.

I wouldn't consider Grond super "recent", it came like what 5 years ago? Grond had a set ES and was very high $$$ back then so it sat around for years before it sold out. This piece only has an ES for orders placed to not many will sit around even with some cancellations.
