The colors bug me less than the resemblance to the First Order armor. If these are meant to be Palpatine loyalists then they have been separated by great distance for decades. The First Order and Empire remnant troopers would have very different looking helmets and armor (more than just colors).

It looks wide enough but probably a too flat as-is. It looks "stowed". I think you'd have to cut the crap out of the whole backpack and I wonder if carving up a cheap Hasbro figure might not serve better.

After reading all the posts bashing on this figure I'll chime in defense it looks far better in hand than most of the photos would suggest. The armor looks like it's to scale, the headsculpt looks great, and the tunic looks weathered rather than yellow. I have no regrets about buying this.

Yes, I took the crotch grabber off and she leans just a hair against the post.

Just arrived today: She looks better in person than many of the more recent pictures. Say whatever you want about TLJ, it was pretty bad. But I still like Rey as a character and this looked better than the previous version.
