I don't think Tarantino was ever not going for pulpy. The dude does low-brow with style and he's quite open about it, that's his appeal.

Prometheus was clumsy, but had some interesting ideas that could've been redeemed if they stuck the landing. Unfortunately, Covenant saw Scott pulling back his horse as he was leaping.

Just got back from watching this in Dolby. I quite enjoyed it, but it made me realize just how much of an outlier Fury Road was. In terms of spirit and pacing, Furiosa is much closer to the first two Mad Max films, a return to form if anyone's been waiting for it. Either Fury Road was lightning...

Much improved over the previous convention prototype, which felt more like an enhanced version of the old Sideshow sculpt. This new one's the real deal. Better expression, nicer teeth, and more separation between his dreads. Not to mention the lifelike paint app. I always dug the look of this...
