Again, it’s not an adaptation. It’s “based on”, “inspired by”. It’s not canon, it’s just based on characters and events mentioned in the Silmarillion and the histories, nothing that was published during Tolkien’s life

The only “risk” is that Amazon mess up their stewardship of the characters and franchise; Bond has a huge fan base and it’s silly to keep saying the character is risky - the last film made over $770 million and was the fourth biggest film of the year. People are clearly just fine with James Bond.

The problem is directors like Cary Fukunaga decided they needed to redress the "power balance" by emasculating Bond completely, and then of course, by finally just bloody killing him off. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I like Craig's Bond more than others here, but No Time To Die was indeed pretty bad. Making Bond a dad immediately hobbled it.

They forgot that James Bond is a franchise for dads to fantasize about not being dads.
