1:1 busts vs. dioramas vs. PFs vs. Everything

i finally received my first marvel diorama (wolvie vs. sabretooth ex.) and i'm amazed. though it is a bit smaller than i anticipated, it's still an awesome piece that's incredibly detailed. i was so impressed that i grabbed an ex. cap/skull dio for cheap and am considering both hulk/spidey pieces as well

now my dilemma...

i absolutely love my venom (favorite villain ever) and two spidey busts, but i don't have a large enough case to display them. i could leave them in the open, but i can't stand my collectibles getting dusty. also, i was determined to stick with just my favorite 3 marvel characters (wolverine, hulk, spiderman), but i've started getting caught up on the marvel storylines and it's getting harder to not want a bit of everything. i know that if i let some of these go now, i'll be kicking myself for it later. considering the way most marvel statues and dioramas appreciate in value, i'm going to wind up spending even more when i decide i want those pieces again 6 months down the road.

do i stick with just my big 3, one line, or everything?

what does everyone else do?

I'd say get whatever you really like!!! The way I see it, if you sell it now and want it later when it's worth 4 times a much, you're gonna hate yourself!!!

Congrats on getting the Dio, excellent piece for sure.

I got mixture, tend to get my favourite characters too.
If I like the character, the product then I get it, I think some of the best collections have mixed pieces in them.
Never think about keeping them because they may appreciate, yeah it would be nice if they did at least retain their value,but to me my collection is priceless anyway. If I wanted a guaranteed investment I'd buy stocks or something.

I agree Collections are always priceless to the owner. But a little rule of thumb about your statement (as I currently work in the securities industry) Stocks are NEVER a guaranteed investment At this point, collecting Marvel seems to have more of a safe return as opposed to stocks right now

that's part of it... cap and red skull will likely go up and if i sell now, i'll be kicking myself when i have to pay 2-3x more for them down the road, especially with the movie coming.

i was never really a big iron man or captain america fan to begin with, but i bought the statues because i thought they looked great. now that i'm catching up on the comics (especially the civil war), i'm actually starting to like the characters more.

i guess it's just a matter of deciding which pieces are a 'must have' for my collection and which ones aren't.

Absolutely!
Take Spiderman for example(just one of my collections), I'm a huge fan of his too and as such have him in various formats,PF's,statues,busts.
So I personally would say go with what you are happy with, the character, the look of the item, doesnt matter who makes it, if you like it, go for it.

I started three months ago and said that I was only doing the Adam Hughes ladies (Emma, M.J., and the Black Cat) and the three mystery comiquettes to be annouced. I have since added Cap America PF, Green Goblin PF, and a Magneto Comiquette, plus some lovely anime ladies and a Frank Cho Red Jen. With Rogue, Mystique, and a Bowen Black Queen ordered and on the way I'm still focusing on the ladies of Marvel but I'm finding it hard to pass up items that are brillantly rendered. So for me if I like it I will buy it.

I'd keep the Venom 1:1 and Spiderman bust(s) first and foremost.

Just get something to display them in bro.

The Venom 1:1 bust is extremely hard to come by, especially a brand new one like yours.

Keep it.

I would say sell your venom bust and spider and concentrate on buying PFs because space is a major player in the collecting business and life size busts need a lot of space

it may be pricey, but that bish is awesome. it's the only good venom piece made by sideshow and well worth every penny, imo. it wasn't exactly easy or cheap to find one that was still sealed.

I agree... I remember seeing the Venom piece at a Store in Florida and had to pick up my jaw from the ground. The detail is just SICK. Crazy kewl

now i will b the one saying that jb needs to keep his busts now that i dont need his anymore! , all i know is, i dont have any busts under glass except when i get my p2 elder and that doesnt stop me from collecting busts. venom is the most sought after and i dont think u will b able 2 get another for a very very long time and defn not what u got it for, but idk, it sounds like yur rich so maybe its doable 4 u

You shouldn't worry about a little dust on your collectibles, it's easily wiped off and you're right you will regret selling any of your babies. I've done it and I've been trying to buy them again ever since.
