Here's some pics of a custom Cap statue I recently added to my collection. It's my dream Cap statue. It's based on Alex Ross' art and IMO perfectly captures the classic 70's/80's era of the character. I'm absolutely thrilled to add this to my collection.

So, here are my thoughts on the statue. I've waited decades for a licensed company to release a 1/4 classic 70's/80's era Captain America statue. Many 1/4 licensed statues of the character have been released over the last 20 years, including custom ones. I've been disappointed by every one of them in some form or another. Sideshow's most recent PF is the closest I've come to getting the 1/4 Cap statue I've wanted for my collection. It's almost perfect. Incredible sculpt, dynamic pose, and a costume that is achingly close to the classic Cap I longed for. The pouches on his belt, silver color on his shield, and solid belt buckle were the only minor issues I had with the PF. These were things I felt I could live with so I POd the PF and was very happy with it.

And then, I saw this custom 1/4 classic Alex Ross inspired Captain America statue 2 months after my PF PO, and was utterly blown away with the painted prototype that was shown on fb. My jaw just dropped at the sight of it. This was it! THE Cap statue I've waited an agonizing 20 years for. An Alex Ross Cap in his classic costume from the 70's/80's era of the character. It also came with switch out parts that could allow me display a WWII era retro Cap as well.

This was released as an unpainted kit. So, I found a local painter and had this statue painted to my EXACT specifications. Alex Ross typically paints his Cap in a darker shade of blue and red. I also wanted the shirt to have a dark metallic blue color on it. I jokingly refer to it as Pepsi can blue because the Pepsi can has a very rich metallic blue color to it. Well, my painter crushed this piece. It's absolutely everything I could've ever hoped for. Now, I can only hope that Alex attends a Chicagoland Comic Con in the near future. If he does, I'll lug this piece with me to get Alex's signature on the base. After that, I just want to enjoy it in my collection until I'm 6 feet under.
