For those interested in what the DT body looks like.

That looks pretty good I think. Not sure I'll have to swap.

I would like to add maybe a quarter inch to his height though, but he's already using log ankle pegs. Hmmmm....

Yeah i might add extenders to the legs as well. I decided to go with painting the exposed parts of the body to match the face, as it's easier to do😌... I touched up the eye paint as well.
And i cut down the vest to look more screen accurate. I know in the movie it's brown, but this cheap grey one will have to do for now.

Good job, so far, matrix69.

That body doesn't look bad at all. I like that it doesn't have a body builder physique.
Thanks Fly, I re-watched the movie over the wkend and Gibson was pretty lean looking alright.

I'd love for some one to make The Feral kid now!

A battle damaged Max leaning on the kids head would make for a pretty cool display.

Matrix, your paintwork look great! And Max looks very realistic with just the t-shirt on. Head looks fine to me.

You've sold me on keeping the DT body... but he needs a little boost in height. I agree, adding ankle extenders should solve that.

Did you measure him as he stands in his boots without modification? I'd love to know how much height he needs. Mel isn't very tall really.

I picked up a seamless armed body from, if not mistaken, Soldier Story.

I know that Max just has that one elbow showing but I've always preferred no joints showing, if possible.
Can we a link to the body, or some more info? Looking about and can’t seem to find any…

So I've been devouring the movie, checking the DT bits against the film... and I made a surprising discovery -- Max has two completely different holsters!

Shocking, surely, that ol' movie magic nonsense of changing the actors outfit for comfort.

So, in the opening scene, Max has a long holster, no rivets, a duller leather, and it maintains its open shape so he can draw his shotgun and return it easily. It looks to be made so Max looks cool like a gunslinger where the shotgun butt hangs low, hip level.

After that opening, when Max finds the gyro-copter, he suddenly has a much shorter, flatter, smaller, shiny leather holster with the familiar 5 rivets down the side -- this one holds the shotgun butt higher (at belt level) as seen in later scenes but also appears to make it impossible for Max to re-sheath his gun once drawn as nearly every scene has him hustling away struggling to return it to its case. It starts to become funny when you're looking. Anyway, this appears to be the holster that Max has the rest of the film.

The DT holster seems to be a mix of both holsters -- its longer like the first one, but has the rivets of the second. Problem is, its way too long for even the long one.

Please please please can a well respected customizer make a decent head for this figure? Beastmaster seems preoccupied with other projects. Maybe even just repainting the head it came with would work, but that is beyond what I can do on my own

Hi Bacon, I couldn't agree more. We all deserve a definitive Max sculpt with a good likeness to Gibson. I was wondering if Kubisi the sculptor might be interested. His work has been excellent of late.

Hello Freaks, been a few years since I’ve been on the boards, but decided to sign in and show my progress on Max. Took a couple of pics with my old *** iPhone 6 and then decided they looked like crap and dusted off the old Canon for a couple of quick shots too. Had to charge the battery first, but I finally got it working again 😂
So I gave the sculpt a few washes of different shades of flesh tones to tone down that horrible yellow color. I used a few red washes for the injured eye area and went over the beard a few times with some light black washes. Added the bandages and did some light weathering with a mix of paint and chalk pastels on the outfit. Oh and that crazy big red cloth on the arm needs to be cut in half and weathered. Adding some padding to the shoulders, sides, and left arm help the jacket look less puffy too 😉

Fantastic job, all around, DeathAsylum!

The repaint on the head sculpt is amazing.

My only nit to pick is with the shiny zippers. I would try to tone them down some, if possible.

Everything else looks fantastic. Saving your pics as reference! Thanks for sharing.

Here's a comparison of the two holsters --

The first has the benefit of being in the most famous picture of Max, walking down the road with his dog, although it was only used for the opening scene as far as I can tell.

Thanks for sharing this info, Wor-Gar!

I just checked my "Premier Toys" version of the holster and it is a combination of the two. Looks exactly like the first one (no studs) but short like the second one. Doesn't reach down to his knee, as the first one shows.

I still am receiving all of the loose parts from different figures in order to update my Max but I think just swapping out the body will definitely help with making the holster look better. (shorter body).

Welcome back, old-timer. Figure looks miles better after all of the TLC you put into it.

PS - I’ll be dropping my sculpt off when Max arrives at my place this weekend. 😉
