Yeah, I preordered immediately also. Had been hoping for Hot Toys to make Mantis for a while so I was really happy when this was announced!

I was fine with the prototype sculpt, but this new updated/revised sculpt is superior IMO.

Just checked my order and was reminded that I PO’d a ‘later batch’ copy from TBA.
They’ve got the first batch already so hopefully I won’t face an excessive wait.

So long as the later batch comes in faster than KG get their stock, I’ll be satisfied.

I was planning to retire my Guardians display and gain the shelf... then this has to appear.

I don't have a PO but thought I'd pick it up down the road. Looks like Guardians may survive my purge... and my GoT display will not.

You guys think the pleather on this will last? You can see the fabric underneath, which might mean it's kind of thin. It's probably so she retains some flexibility without being hindered by the material. I wish they'd move to purely fabric suits so that it reduced the risk of long term posing issues.

That said, this figure is amazing. I love that they refined the sculpt, it's definitely some of their best work.

Yes I think so too. Even the hair is longer and less curled so more similar to Vol 3 than Vol 2.

I like this update as I liked the character development in Vol 3 but looking back at the original sculpt I can see how some collectors would have preferred no changes. Perhaps there should have been 2 headsculpt for the different expressions/hairstyles.

Had to look up the differences, and considering her look in the Holiday Special was closer to her look in Vol 3, that change makes sense.

I wasn't a fan of the updated somber expression until I saw the original prototype again, and it's definitely a better sculpt/likeness now. I see Mantis as a very facially expressive character (sad, angry, excited), and neither the final product or prototype captured that perfectly (which is mainly why I held off on preordering).

Like a few other people, I'm in the process of trimming the collection, and Guardians surprisingly still resonates with me, even more than any other MCU franchise other than Cap (and I almost want to expand the Guardians shelf... maybe finally pick up Star Lord and Gamora). Very strongly considering picking this up now though.

Sounds from the reviews like there is no pleather on the figure, it's all that vinyl material they use...
which should hopefully hold up much better.

4-way stretch vinyl lasts much much better than pleather, and it shouldn't flake. I noticed the vertical line stitching patterns in the Mantis outfit, looks similar to what Jazzinc is doing with their vinyl Returns Catwoman.

I am based in Australia so I managed to snag the PO for her from Popcultcha at around 400 AUD or roughly 270 USD. Fingers crossed you will be able to grab her for a good price as well!

I paid 325 USD all in on release day to import from HK.

I've justified it to myself since there isn't as many figures on the horizon for me as a marvel collector that i am planning to add, so happy to pay a bit more since this looks incredible and she has been missing from the Guardians collection for far too long!
