That's fair enough. Unfortunately I can't reach out to them on IG since I don't have any social media accounts. Might have to get my son to look into it for me

Not a bad price. Not the best, but a good paintup for that money. What's the timeframe? A Japan roundtrip is gonna take up quite a bit.

2 weeks to get there, 3 week turnaround, 2 weeks back. So 2 months I guess?

I really don’t get why painters don’t like their prices being publicly known.
It’s such an odd stigma of the collecting community.

Having to ‘DM for a price’ just immediately makes me sceptical.
‘Mustn’t give the buying customers any degree of perspective- just charge as much as we can get away with every time and they’ll never compare prices with each other for fear of disrespecting our artistic integrity! Mwahaha’

Well in the Facebook groups I think there are usually rules against selling services or advertising your business, so people try to keep things more on the down low. But I agree it is super annoying to deal with.

These painters can all have their own Facebook business pages with prices clearly stated.

Even ball-parking price ranges for quality levels of a job or time spent on a piece would be more helpful than DO NOT DISCUSS PRICES ANYWHERE EVER!
That’s how I’d do it anyway.

A standard or premium paint package option- broken down by scale, cost for mods like removing sculpted necks, hairing, just eye repaints etc. Get all the basics down.

Standard paint option for those who may just want a cheap sculpt off eBay to have a passable level of paint app to blend with the average collection without having to spend hundreds.

The customer figures out what they want on their own time and then comes to you, the artist, with a clear understanding of what they’re asking for and a decent idea of how much it’s going to cost.

Not saying I could do better but for some reason that Doc looks a little off to me. Not quite sure what it is. The one by DaveJames is a lot better. Maybe it’s the lack of rooted hair. Something in the face looks weird though too.

There's too many things at play to make an informed conclusion.

1. Angle of image (forehead looks smaller, therefore throws the likeness off).
2. Lighting.
3. Camera used.
4. Rooted vs sculpted.

The hair in the SUworks one is too dark, IMO. As is the skin tone, but won't know about the skin until it's under the same lighting conditions as Dave's.

However, so far, I prefer Davejames' work by a mile. It's incredibly good.

Yeah DaveJames' headsculpt and paint job is far superior. And the rooted hair is just amazing!

Agreed. I’d rather display the figure with a bald unpainted headsculpt than displaying it with the original one.
