I skimmed through AOTC again last night. I was huge into it when it came out and it does have its moments. The Kamino rain scrap is still epic.
I love the movie.
I know it's not everyone's fave, but there are some stand out moments in it.
Seismic charge back in 2002 was a goosebump moment.
I could go on,but will refrain from derailing the thread.

Glad they are finally making Padme and mace. I like the phantom menace but not aotc or rots. I'll skip ani and the droid.

Admittedly, I'm a fan of bad movies but usually they have no budget and inexperienced crew, amateur actors and so on. Aotc really shouldn't have been a bad film but it is. I guess that's why it's low on my list. Tlj is even more though.

I still remember the day this title was announced, I thought they may as well add 50 foot in the title.

i honestly love AOTC too.

several cool new locations were introduced (coruscant neon underworld, kamino, geonosis), everything to do with jango, obi-wan’s whole detective plot (shout out to dex’s diner), anakin’s experience with his mom on tattooine (including the iconic swoop bike shot), everything to do with kamino / the clones, young boba, the list goes on. so much interesting worldbuilding, and a lot of now-iconic vehicles / droids / designs were introduced. anakin is portrayed as bratty and creepy, but it definitely establishes him as a volatile character. I really love the geonosis arena scene as a set piece too, when the clones pull up with yoda to save the day is a saga-wide highlight for me. people complain about the cgi in the ensuing battle, but all the clone gunships, droids, so many jedi… definitely feels like an epic moment.

i’ll admit i was i was 10 when it came out so i’m sure there’s plenty of nostalgia involved, not to mention all the toys and video games at the time. i also absolutely know it has its flaws (dated cgi, cringey dialogue, etc), but i still really appreciate it. it was ambitious with pushing film technology forward and added so much to the overall lore of star wars.

lastly cant forget to mention the incredible soundtrack. the “love theme” is beautiful and iconic, as is the foreboding music when anakin is on tatooine.

i totally get why people take issue with it, but for me personally it’s a special movie.

Though I don't think they're real great films, the PT has some amazing designs that make perfect toys. From Maul and Battle Droids in Episode 1, to Jango and the clones in Episode 2, to Grievous and Anakin/Obi-Wan in Episode 3 and back to TCW for even more Jedi, clone and droid designs. One of the many reasons why PT merchandise sells so well.
Lucas was always savvy to the importance of merch and toys in particular. I feel like every aspect of the prequels was designed with toy sales and visuals that kids will think are cool in mind- and I can't even be mad at a decision like that because it produced characters, ships, weapons and locations that I've adored for decades now.
He was also clearly looking to distinquish eras between the colourful and vibrant days of the Republic before the dawn of the Glactic Empire who did everything in black, white and grey uniformity, washing away individual or cultural expression.

Oh...my...it's finally happening...were finally getting Padme....we're getting Mace...I wish we were getting that Kit Fisto as well. That proto looked so awesome

Padme's curves?

AOTC isn’t complete without mullet Kenobi to pair with Anakin (despite them splitting up mission wise early in the film) - I know HT wanted a relatively inexpensive army builder they could produce but I’d rather had him than a Super Battledroid… sorry droid army builders 😂

I'm not giving up hope on Mullet-Wan. It's frankly shocking how we only got two Hot Toys Obi-Wan so far (not counting the OWK one). It's bizarre that we cannot recreate the Duel of the Fates battle with Obi, Qui-Gon and Maul and it'll be just as bizarre to not have Mullet obi during the AOTC20. I'm hoping it's just a surprise drop.
Shut up! Let me live in my naivety! 🤣

A mullet is hair that is cut so that it is shorter on the top and side and long in the back. Kenobi’s hair is just long - all of it. Or to put it another way - if you shave your head and then grow your hair out for a year, your hair on top will hang shorter than your hair at the back of the head (or nape of the neck). But each hair is the same basic length. That’s just long hair - not a mullet.

This is a true mullet.
