Yeah, I want BD the most - figure my Hasbro pit droids and R5 are good enough as background in the display. That price stopped me cold.Just decided to see what Sideshow is charging for this, thought having R5 would be cool after his appearance in the last Mando episode, but good lord this set is not worth $265 lol. I can get Koska Reeves for $5 more. That's absurd pricing for an astromech and two small droids.
At this point, my hope is that Hot Toys will make Cal Kestis and we'll get the BD with him. They've done video game figures before and with how popular Fallen Order was, I am hopeful they got the license for Survivor. I would rather get BD-1 over Pelli's BD unit. At least the BD hanging out with Cal did a bunch of cool stuff. Pelli's one just kinda stands there.Yeah, I want BD the most - figure my Hasbro pit droids and R5 are good enough as background in the display. That price stopped me cold.
At least with the Hasbro droids you can get 3-4, instead of paying ~800 to get 3 pit droids.

But So. Cute. tho. That scene with BD dancing with excitement did it for me. Sue me, the pit droids are cute too. Plus think the battle droids are hilarious. With everything from Tuskens to weapons-loaded badasses my shelves need the monotony broken up a bit. Now that I think about it, only Gandalf isn't bristling with knives....whoops, forgot about his sword.
That's because R5 is characterized as a scared lil' ***** and R2 is a BEAST.The fun reboot of R5 on Mando has been fine (though I don't think his adventure alongside Din so far is going to bump R2D2 off anyone's "favorite brave lil' droid" list)
With corporations constantly trying to sell us the next 'icon' I'm beginning to think there hasn't been anything truly 'iconic' since the '90s.From the trailers I thought the Grogu-Din iconic side-by-side visual might have become a trio along with R5 but can't say that's the case, at least yet. Maybe R5 has a stellar/iconic episode coming up.
Sorry looking up and seeing this right after making my post above made me chuckle a bit, I was definitely feeling the same way. For better or worse seems like the days of practically every figure hanging around for a big discount are behind us for the foreseeable future.Maybe I'll order this in a couple of years when its 30% off.

I think its just a scare tactic really but even if I'm not its just a doll they will 2.0 in 5 years.I believe Sideshow has been closing most preorders on a timed basis rather than quantity, and this feels like a continuation of that.
It’s always been best to get your preorders in early with your preferred authorized retailer because of limited allocations. But for the time being, it’s kind of imperative. And for now, that also includes preorders directly Sideshow; if not early then at least within several months.
It’s not great that we collectors have to pay for their hubris but unfortunately we just have to deal with it.

Ahsoka from Mandalorian went ‘waitlist full’ before ever coming in stock, too.Head’s up that this hit waitlist earlier today. No blue screen warning. I’m been a huge skeptic but seems time to take these waitlists serious after the Clone Trooper and Clone Pilot both failed to return once they got released.
Not sure, but what is that "ring" in the rectangular panel on the left of his torso? I see it visible in this shot from the D+ show too. Nothing appears to be there on the ANH R5-D4 in the movie. That is the spot where the restraining bolt goes on R2-D2. But I never noticed a ring in the area on an Astromech droid where the bolt goes. The specs on this toy say it comes with a removable magnetic restraining bolt, and some pictures show the standard restraining bolt from ANH attached to the figure in the spot where that ring is. Can anyone explain to me why this R5 has a ring but the ANH version doesn't seem to?Which mods/changes have been made to it since ANH?
I guess it's just been bolted enough to make the paint flake in that spot? Not sure, but what is that "ring" in the rectangular panel on the left of his torso? Makes sense, but it doesn't seem like ANH R5 ever had that on him. So that's a detail that seems to firmly place this version in Mando world.I think it's meant to be the grime and oil stains that collected around the edge of the bolt while it was attached.
