Nah, Mandalorian Super Commando takes the win for least likeness.Arguably the worst likeness of the entire line.
Looked really good to me the proto in person, a couple of photos don’t put me off the face and I wasn’t going to order it originally, but both her and Baylan look great. Rest of the Ahsoka line I happily skip.View attachment 692609View attachment 692610
The more I look at the sculpt, the less I like it. Hot Toys needs to go back to the drawing board with this one and start from scratch. Arguably the worst likeness of the entire line.
It's not just the facial features that are off. Sculpt is also super soft and symmetricalized.
Not sure if it's the sculptors trademark to idealize and symmetricalize every sculpt, but I've seen a number of Hot Toys sculpts that look quite similar to this one. They all have that weird idealized look to them. What a bummer.
Yeah it's just bizarre that they had an actress with such an obvious and defining feature in those big eyes, that they didn't even try to capture in the sculpt. Because when you're a sculptor chasing after a likeness that's exactly the thing you usually zero in on.View attachment 692609View attachment 692610

I wonder if the rolling eyeballs feature played a part in their size for the prototype - i.e., HT used a “standard” size that was already available. Hopefully they tweak them for production.Yeah it's just bizarre that they had an actress with such an obvious and defining feature in those big eyes, that they didn't even try to capture in the sculpt. It's also the nose. It's just too narrow. Ivanna's nose isn't that narrow and I think it's making the entire face look off.Yeah it's just bizarre that they had an actress with such an obvious and defining feature in those big eyes, that they didn't even try to capture in the sculpt. Another thing throwing off the likeness are the eyebrows. I've noticed somewhat of a trend of HT sometimes slapping on those generic straight eyebrows, while the actress has quite distinctive ones. It's like the sculptor didn't even use any reference for them. After they pretty much nailed the likeness on the rest of the figures from this line, I'm rather disappointed with this one. It's mainly the eyes that puts it off for me. Their just to small imo. Still a nice figure overall, though. Will definitly pre-order her and Baylan.View attachment 692375
Well the vast majority of people were singing its praises in their FB post, so I'm not too hopeful about them making any changes. Unless they happen to realize themselves that it still needs work.I think it's possible HT will tweak this sculpt before release. They did with Supergirl and Obi-Wan, so why not Shin? She's definitely the worst sculpt in the Ahsoka line. From a distance the figure looks like Ivanna, but things start to fall apart when you get in close. She might end up being one of those figures that actually looks better than the prototype.
How many of those people are actually pre-ordering, though? I very much doubt it's a 1:1 relationship, or even a representative sample. At the end of the day, the units moved will rule the day.Well the vast majority of people were singing its praises in their FB post, so I'm not too hopeful about them making any changes. True but I suspect that the enthusiasm for the characters release, coupled with Baylon no less, had a lot of people day one pre-ordering. I did...but I'm never too bent on the sculpt at ultra close and poorly lit angles. This will look fantastic on the shelf regardless if they do revisions or not.How many of those people are actually pre-ordering, though?
