I just got a few Indy figures for x-mas (first Indy figure and Melty face Nazi, plus Ark of Covenant and temple environment). The Indy figure is really floppy, like ridiculously floppy. Was that normal for those Indies?

Unfortunately, yes. Most will recommend you switch it over to a Hot Toys narrow shouldered true type body.

Really, "Melty face Nazi." And yes, switch over to a TT.

Mate great to see you got some cool Indy figs for xmas, as for the floppy body the easy way to fix it is use super glue in the joints.

Use a littel super glue in the joints and move the joints back and forth so not to glue them together, this movement will make the glue move into teh joint sections and tighten them up.

:) Being lazy.

Well, it kinda sucks Sideshow makes things you have to replace immediately after you buy it.
Ah well....

Sean

Unfortunately, he was the first figure to debut on the Prometheus body, so naturally there'd be bugs needed to be worked out. It's just unfortunate they chose the main character in a franchise launch to utilize it. However, a quick port over to a HT Narrow Shouldered TrueType (you'll have to cut down the wrist pegs and heat up the shoes to swap the Sideshow pegs with the HT foot pegs), and you'll have a figure that's considerably more enjoyable.

I don't have to tell you this because Ron is THE Indy master, but he's 100% correct. Ben and I use that technique all the time. We haven' had any problems from our Indy figures since doing that.

Yup, first attempt at Prometheus = FAIL

And in keeping with new forum rules, let me explain why. It's floppy. Really floppy. Like a limp ****, can't stand up straight on it's own no matter how much you play with it. I switched mine over to a HT true type, but still not happy with the result, because feet and hands aren't compatible without mods. Didn't think I should have to do all this for an $80 figure.

Also, Indy never seems to really have a "natural" pose IMO. Even after switching out body types, it's either like he's too hunched over or his pants are pulled to high like an old man.

I'm sure some of the experts here can direct you on how to avoid all of these shortcomings.

I've read that the True Type body is a slightly longer than Indy's stock body, so the shirt sleeves can be too short. Is that the case? I was thinking of getting one of those but am afraid to after hearing that. ALso, do the True Types have a neck? If not, how do you put Indy's head on?

Yeah, the crazy glue method may work on knees, elbows, but what about neck and "spine"? Seriously, the Indy I have is like a rag doll, with the head and back essentially like a dead fish. F-ing pathetic for the money.

Sean,

It is probably the last thing that you want to hear ... but if you are a big Indy fan, it is worth noting, researching and doing:

There is a massive wealth of information in that very long thread on how to upgrade your Indy figures. That will take time, lots of time, and money to do, but if your a huge Indy fan it just might be worth it. I have more than one year into both my 1/6 scale Indy and 1/4 scale Indy.

Another good option is the Soldier Story brand body... you will have to do some minor modeling work to make the hands and head attach.. but the benefit is that this body has a good sculpted in neck area which looks much better with Indy's open shirt collar... once Newline miniatures finally restocks their real leather 1/6 Indy boots you HAVE to do that upgrade as well. ( well worth it !!) ..it also makes a big difference if you cut off all of those hideous shirt buttons and replace them with buttons off of a DML brand shirt.... ! I do replacement belts, holsters and whips... point being, there are plenty of options/routes to take to really improve this figure... you can make one heck of a 1/6 Indy if you just take the time..

DEFINITELY get these from Mike, they are second to none! Always amazing, amazing work! :whip

I'm not that familiar with Hot Toys True Type product, so forgive the questions...

So a normal True Type, like this, wouldn't work as an Indy replacement body?

Is the "Slim" body, seen here, the same thing as a Narrow Shoulder?

As it stands now, my Indy looks pretty anemic in the shoulders, with his Prometheus body. Would a "narrow shoulder" be an improvement?

Narrow is the one you want. The clothes fit it almost perfectly and the transformation of the shape of body makes a big difference.

I was going through all my spare parts yesterday, looking for some feet pegs, when I found Indy's pro body. For some reason it did not feel a floppy as used to. Strange.

Once you put the head on, it becomes top heavy and that's when you start to have problems.

I noticed the same thing when I switched to the TT. I was playing with the Pro joints and thought "Hmm, they don't feel floppy". Once those knees and ball-hips have to support all the weight on the above, it starts flopping around.
