1/6 scale Fortress of Solitude for Hot Toys Superman Christopher Reeve

Hello All,
I'm a long time lurker here at Sideshow Freaks and I've enjoyed and been inspired by all the fun projects and displays I've seen here.
My first exposure to Hot Toys was when my friend showed me online the Hot Toys version of Christopher Reeve as Superman. I was amazed at the detail and the likeness. I had no idea such figures existed! Well, later on that same friend got me the figure as a gift and my new hobby began. Like many of you here, Christopher Reeve is Superman to me, so I knew I had to display it in a special way. I decided I would build a custom diorama cabinet and what better setting then the Fortress of Solitude! I've poked away at it over the past 3 years. Here are some build pictures and of course completed photos. Hope you enjoy it and again thanks for the inspiration I've received here.

Fantastic job! I especially love the crystal console. I wish HT would have done something like that for the figure.

I'm new at this. I'm still figuring out how to post properly. I should have added commentary between the pictures. Anyway, as you can see it's I went a little overboard making a lot of pieces out of chicken wire and Sculpey. In retrospect coated Styrofoam would have been just fine for most of it. The back panel is strips of cut cork built up and painted. the ice columns are Styrofoam that received several coats of Elmers glue and were then painted. The crystal console is made up of acrylic rods and tubes purchased online. I stuffed led Christmas lights everywhere I could hide them and topped off the whole thing with some very fine fake snow from the local arts & crafts store. Oh, and yes it plays music! When the "S" is pressed on the front of the cabinet one of two selections plays from the movie soundtrack, the dramatic opening of "The planet Krypton" or the last 2 dramatic minutes from "The Fortress of Solitude". The wav player is from an outfit called PRICOM that I found online. The "S" button is a chrome keychain that I filed the hoop off of. All comments & questions welcomed. Hope everyone enjoys it.

This is insane. Insanely beautiful! All that hard work and toil over 3 years was worth it. If only I had the skills to do something of the same, but who knows...seeing people like you do stuff like this, really does work the motivation up a lot!

I was going to say it looked good but was missing the green key crystal. Then I saw it, so I'll say this..
That is a fantastic piece of work. It looks great without the shadowbox, great with the shadowbox, and great all around. Nice detail. Congrats. You win the internet for today.

Outstanding diorama and job on it! That illuminating crystal console is tremendous. Now all you need is to find a way to project an image of Marlon Brando's image as Jor-El.
