Modded fire Phoenix sword before:
after:
i genuinely hate that I didn't get the rounded cross on the pommel symmetrical but I keep looking at surviving swords from the mediaeval times and their engravings are also not symmetrical so I'll keep telling myself it's fine
.I basically just sanded the whole thing to bare metal using multiple grits and did the reshaping and cross on the pommel and reshaping the hilt by hand I sort of made it slightly angular (the pommel) I guess ? And on the flat edges I sanded in a little bit so each angle was curved ? I don't know how else to explain it but it's basically a little angular I also purposefully didn't wait inbetween Coates whilst painting the handle so it had texture I could dry brush over. I'm using a coomodel helmet before:
after:
again I took off all the paint, I also took off all the bolts ? And added new ones in more accurate places, I also used a pin vice to add vent holes on one side and I was pretty rough with cleaning it up, I purposely left alot of dents and scratches, I just thought that it being the helmet it's probably have the most wear on it but I mainly didn't want the rust on it that coomodel had out on it, I also weathered the metal on both the sword and helmet using a trick I found that I've been using for a few years, I cover the whole thing in a layer of Gundam real touch marker, I used the Gray 3 but it's basically black, I leave it for a while and then just wipe it off with paper towel it leaves sort of abstain on the metal and darkens all the wear, just for reference here's the helmet before doing the Gundam marker
and after
weather or not any of this is an improvement I honestly don't know
I may have went a little overboard on the helmet wear ? Opinion please guys ?
