The dialog in the trailer was, difficult. I will definitely go to watch it when it’s released. Good Zombie material is rare. TWD was good for about 2 seasons before it started going downhill. FTWD was bad from the start. At least for me those two shows are simply lame. Wish there were more and better Zombie games to play. Days Gone on leads the way as far as that goes. Would love to see something new that played out in an urban setting…
z Nation was a lot of fun.

What dialog? There is a woman talking to kids and then the rest is a reading of Rudyard Kipling's "Boots", a chilling poem about the repetitive nature of a soldier's life at war. The recording used is from 1915. It's a pretty effective reading IMO.

It must be over a decade since I watched the films, and I think I only ever watched them once even though I have them on DVD.

With the new one coming out I planned to rewatch them as soon as I finished all of Jeremy Renner's Mayor of Kingstown.

Watched 28 Days Later earlier and started on 28 Weeks Later, and I'm thinking to myself, that soldier looks like Jeremy Renner. :lol

The background reading during the whole trailer. I didn’t care for it.

I think the trailer is amazing and does a perfect job setting the tone for this new chapter. I loved 28 Days Later and also enjoyed 28 Weeks Later even if it is inferior to Days in many ways, it does have my favorite scene out of any zombie flick though.

I remember thinking Weeks was just as good as the first, but it's been awhile since I've seen either one.

I was hoping to pick them up on Amazon but they're all sold out there, and going for over $150 on ebay. Say what?? 😄

28 weeks later is scarier and has more action than 28 days later

28 days later is comfy. and slow burn. excellent acting. very good ending

28 weeks later feels like a proper adaptation of resident evil 2 or 3. some parts of it feels exactly like those games

Danny Boyle is right around the age timeline where the most impactful work in horror of that generation was Richard Matheson's I Am Legend. There are some elements of the original story that will always be timeless. But how the modern era sees social isolation now, the need for community and "connectivity" compared to the mid 50s is an entirely different ballgame. This trailer gave me some pretty strong Matheson vibes. But many horror films do that anyway.

I think new zombie films have to shift to a more modern tone to be successful at the box office. Not better, not worse, just different.

For those who have not read the novella of Matheson's I Am Legend, it's not a long read, but there are elements of it that mess with your head over time. It's not really a vampire story and not really a horror story on a certain level. Kind of like how Moneyball wasn't quite completely a movie about baseball.

That scene was about the only thing I remembered from the film during my rewatch since the idea of it is so dark, and so far from the normal behaviour you expect from what at first seems to be the 'hero' character.

There were a few elements in 28 Weeks Later that specifically made me think of TLOU. The obvious one is the immunity, making Tammy and Andy special, and Tammy being a proto Ellie. After Andy is bitten Tammy said they should wait and see what happens, just as Ellie and Riley decided.

Big difference is that they're deadly carriers. :panic:

Literally from beginning to end the film messes with your expectations of normality in a zombie film.

I heard someone say in a live stream that it was hard to get copies of the film as they were 'out of print'.

There's likely to be re-releases to cash in.

While I have them both on DVD I no longer like using discs and much prefer the mp4 format because it's handier, so I downloaded new copies to watch and stick on SD card.

Yeah I know I can easily download them, but there are certain great movies I still like having a physical blu-ray of for posterity (and for the special features). But I'm sure it won't be long before new 4Ks are released to help hype up the sequel.

My DVD and Blu-ray collection is now just like my thousands of bagged comics: things I never open but can't bear to part with.
