Interesting- usually they do not send notices out on such short notice- I think they are anticipating a lot of cancelations. I am about to... 799 is too expensive for a piece with that many made

Well there goes a lot of money this month. I thought it would be next month when these came in.

I got about a $1000 all within a week with bike and maul RAH.

This is the second high dollar item this week to just pop up with a 3-5 day notice. WTF is going on SS? Are you intentionally trying to **** your customers by not giving them the proper heads up?

What the hell happened to the 30 day notices?

Why do people place pre orders on something if you know you will be cancelling? Look, I am not judging, just seriously wondering in general - not directed to anyone here.

Only reason I did not place order = cost and space, but I knew this going in.

Edit: i just looked at the ES, 1500 is NOT alot! That is a small run!

Life happens.

I never pre-ordered this item due to the $$$ and space.
I have not pre-ordered the 1:1 Iron-Man despite how awesome it looks.
But I have pre-ordered items that I later had to cancel due to life happening.

This went up for sale last May. A lot happens in 9 months.

Deffinately agree!

Agreed too about people cancelling due to life happenings... people I don't understand are those who cancel right after they saw the edition size... This sucks IMO!

When you look at the average after market value of Star wars PFs, they are considerably less than the original cost - this is in part due to large edition sizes. This PF is a good example of something that 'if all trends stay the same' will be less on ebay in the next month than it is on SSCs website. People are upset because they'd like to buy this awesome piece direct and see the value of piece increase. A smaller edition size (say 800) may have helped this. I'm likely going to go through with my preorder solely on the basis of SSCs 30 day guarentee. In reality though, Im probably paying almost $300 premium, since the cost of the piece will be less on Ebay and FedEx expedited shipping to Canada is considerably more than USPS.

Am I disapointed/upset about the edition size? Absolutely.
Do I still want a Speeder Bike and Scout PF? You bet.

I completely agree with you guys about not getting notice emails in a timely manner. I just checked the newsletters and it was listed as coming in 30 days for the first time in the 2/7/2008 newsletter; that is a little over two weeks ago it is true, but that means there should have been a 20-25 day email and then another 3-5 day email at the least.

Maybe I am naive, but I truly buy something to have it in my collection. I could care less about ES as a deciding factor on whether or not I buy a piece, like the Speederbike.

Now, is it fun to have something not a lot of people have: yes - on that note, I understand wanting a low ES....but ultimately, if an item is truly awesome, ES is not a factor.

But, while wanting it, is definitely a factor in buying a piece...so, is the price.

And I think most of the cancellations from SS, will be people saying, I can get this cheaper from my local dealer. Most pre-order directly from SS at first, because it guarantees them one...But, once they see the ES, they then have a MUCH better idea as to whether or not they will be able to get one easily from local dealers...at a greatly reduced price.

Everyone wants to own limited edition rare statues....but, only the rich...and stupid people, want it, and don't care how much they pay for it.

Not that I am insinuating that you are either rich...or stupid, AmanaMatt!:lol Just my opinion..

I agree 100%.
I could care less about the edition size-- If I'm buying something it's because I want it in my collection... not because it might go up or decrease in value over five to ten years. I collect for the love of collecting and for a little nostalgic kick of grabbing on to a past when things were a little less complicated (ie mortgage... kids... cancer... etc)... Collecting keeps me young at heart and that's what matters most.

Glad to see I am not the only one with this POV!!!

WHATTT????!?!?!?!?

just kidding - quote taken out of context - couldn't resist. Seriously, I guess people are more savvy out there about prices! I hate to say it, but once I lock in an order, its there 90% of the time!

If someone finds a dealer selling this for 50%, I will be happy to convert my attitude. I would have loved the Biker Scout, but money alone was out of my range....I mean, I gotta pay for those seats at the new Dallas center in Arlington!!!! Thems aint' cheap!!!!! (I wish)

Value has very little to do with what I purchase as well, but if I see the potential for the piece dropping in value down the line (due to large edition size, etc...), I will be patient and save some money by buying it later. Even though it can be hard being patient when you see pictures of a great piece, for myself who is on a collecting budget the wait is necessary evil.

This is a really amazing piece, but no place to display even if I might be able get the money for it.
