A few people have asked about my Clockwork Orange figure since I posted some of my stuff in the Galleries section. There's one on eBay, with an asking price about twice what I bought mine for. The illustration is not the box mine came in, but that's the figure. The hat is removeable.

Too much money I know, but this is an unlicensed item that will never see the light of day again. Kubrick permitted no merchandising licenses. I think there's a similar GK resin model out there that's also 1:6, but it would cost about the same...unpainted. Anyway, since there were questions, I post it FYI.

(PS, no, I'm not selling mine even if it means doubling my money!)

Boy, I would love to get this figure someday. I've wanted it ever since I saw it at SDCC last year. :monkey5 :monkey5 :monkey5

And the box does look different from the pictures I've seen in the past.

This one will be mine... someday.

The full color box is from the earlier release of this figure... I think from about 4 or 5 years ago. My buddy recently picked up the B&W version... he loves the thing to death. He also has the Mr Torrance (that's his review) and Taxi Driver figures from CRM... All really great figures, but he's got about $800 invested in three 1/6 figures which is too much for me :google

Thanks, GB...your friend's review told me much more than I knew about CRM.

Looks like the difference between the first and second edition is the pants. The one on eBay (which has no bids at the starting price the seller's asking) has the color box and baggy pants. Check the photo at the bottom of your friend's review, or the pic of mine below:

Why would a company sculpt something and only make 80 of them?

EDIT-okay I guess I just read why.

Figures like these are (suposedly) made using temporarly lisecences that allow them to sell the figures in a one time shot and then they can't make anymore. They sell them for a lot of money and then of course collectors go crazy for them and later they increase in price dramatically. It seems to be a fairly common practice and keeps them from getting in trouble with likeness rights.

But back to Alex, another difference w/the early version is the hands seem very orange compared to the body, which is not the case with the newer version. And just so you don't think all of CRM's figures are winners here is what appears to be the most recent attempt: Blade Runner.

Yeah, definitely not their best work...

BTW it turns out as a coincidence my friends review of Alex went up tonight over on Michael's site: CRM Alex
Not quite as glowing as the Torrance figure, but still a figure I'd like to be able to afford oneday :monkey2

Are they really making a remake? I read Do Androids dream of electric sheep before I watched Blade Runner and was dissapointed how they took out so much of the meaning of the book. Even if the Remake comment was a joke this is the movie to remake if you ask me.

That Blade Runner figure is not nearly as good as the bootleg figure that came out a few years ago and is still pretty available.

I was actually bidding on the bootleg last night, Android Hunter. It was the V3 with a better headsculpt. I didn't win but was given a second chance offer for $52... I'm trying to decide if I want it or not. $52 seemed like a good price last night, but it doesn't feel the same when its not an auction :huh

$52 for the Android Hunter is a great price. That's the same price as a standard SSC figure.

Yeah I think you're right Dave, and my friend said the same thing. I've actually wanted the Android Hunter figure since I saw him for sale in Japan about 6 years ago. So, I'll pick him up! I'll post some pictures when I get 'em!
