A guest review of the HT Supes...

On the front page it says Medicom Superman and not Hot Toys. :)

I don't feel that any of the companies captured Routh perfectly. The pics I've seen of the different ones all seem off (except for Medicom's Clark).

I saw the "medicom supes" link too, and I felt that this review was more than generous. I think HT could've created the "leather" cape, and while the likeness isn't perfect, it is my favorite. I think the reviewer is spot on in saying that SS could've created the same quality figure for half the price. I don't know that they could do other HT lines like Predator or Robocop and keep the cost down, but this easily could've been a SS figure for 55.00 and shipping.

Still... it's one of the first Superman Returns figures that I've seen that didn't look like David Duchovny. :lol :rotfl :lol

I guess some slammers can't help themselves by posting over 15 negative comments about one figure when one or two will do to make his point and that is sad.

I love this figure (especially the outfit) can't wait to get him and expect many years of collecting satisfaction with him. I will now have a custom Reeves, Reeve and this HT Routh figure in my Superman sixth scale figure collection.

Its a nice looking figure and definitely the most movie-accurate yet. The picture next the DC Direct version is pretty funny. I still don't get what DC was thinking making those huge-ass figures

I think the only issue is the headsculpt being a bit off, but for Hot Toys its one of the better jobs and definitely serviceable. If I wasn't so broke I'd be getting this one, but for now I'll sadly have to wait a bit :monkey2

pjam, I am really looking forward to seeing this one in person, as I can tell you that everything I have gotten from Hot Toys has significantly exceeded my expectations. The Predators and the Aliens Marines are so far above an beyond what I would expect in terms of quality and detail, but given their complexity I can appreciate the higher price point. The (perhaps misconceived) perception I have is that Supes is relatively "simple" and shouldn't be as expensive as a Predator. I will reserve judgment until I see it in person, and again I have to say thanks:bow for pointing us in the direction of your retailer for these!

I heard HT designed a new body specifically for this figure (which is clearly evident by seeing the pics) which is probably why the price point isn't a bit lower and there are basically no accessories. I bought him for the body, superb film-accurate outfit detail and am fine with the sculpt although HT could do a little better in that department, but you can always have a pro repaint the head and he will be perfect instead of just the best out there IMO.

Of course one can never judge any figure until they have it in their hands but judging by this pic I think I'm going to be fairly pleased.

Good news! Is Batman shipping too?

I'm with you, pjam. I am so looking forward to this. With all the pics that have been posted of all the different versions, HT looks the best to me. Therefore it will be the best one...for me.

TS said they will receive HT BB separately a couple days after Supes (arriving by the 13th) and will ship both out together but I recommend you call or email them to make sure they are shipped together to save on costs.

TS is Toy Square and they will email you with your shipping/tracking info. They are a very small company and probably haven't completed inspecting each item and/or updated their records yet. You can always check your account status with them online or call them to confirm your order and shipping status.

I haven't seen anyone that actually has the figure expressing disappointment. It's definitely better than any other movie Superman we've ever gotten in the format.

I just recieved the figure yesterday. I think the costume and the body are great but something is off in the headsculpt. I am still deciding whether I should keep it or not. It is clearly the best superman returns figure out there, plus I doubt there will be a better superman figure anytime soon, if at all, so I will probably regret selling it if I do. I am just glad i got it for under $150.00 shipped.

Nice.

I also think the cape looks better and will hang better than one made from pleather like the movie.

The guys at TS rock! I just got a response to my email. Both Supes and the Bat will ship together at the end of the week.
