that there have been no PF LoTR announced. I think the SW collectors (myself included) have been spoilt with the SW PF line which is shaping up very nicely. Leia should be here any day now:monkey5.

Any thoughts as to why this line was passed over on this occassion?

You're not the only disappointed one here. Part of me is a bit glad since I collect both lines of each SW and LOTR, but Frodo was announced in late February I think. I will always trade quantity for quality, so I'd rather them take there time and make sure a sculpt is great before pushing something to satisfy us freaks.

My only idea as to why the SW line is going gangbusters compared to LOTR in the licenses. Maybe they have LOTR a lot longer than the SW and need to pump out as much SW as they can.

That's a good point. We don't know how long SSC has the SW 1/6 license. When it was first announced, I thought I remembered hearing "three years" mentioned in a few places but that was never confirmed. If that's true, then it would explain why we're getting some of the items we're getting. Also, we're more likely to get core characters for the most part since it's a small window of opportunity.

However, I think LFL would be insane to revoke the license too quickly now that the line is a huge success!!

Honestly I'd be happy with the Fellowship but at this rate its going to take 5 years to complete and surely NL isn't giving a five year licence.

How long was the SS/weta licence?

I think the 3 year reference was just for their original deal, but I think it is pretty secure that it will get renewed when necessary. :D

I wouldn't be too disappointed Bulls. I know believe it or not this same thing comes up each year. We get overwelmed in some lines and disappointed in others during SDCC. But remember that one of the big differences between SS and most of the other companies is that while other companies make yearly announcements at SDCC, even some make quarterly announcements, but SS makes continual announcements all year. So there is still time.

I suspect you are right Ox. I wouldn't be suprised if in the next couple of newsletters there will be more awesome announcements.

The announcements for this only are simply to slow, with nothing revealed at SDCC how long will it be before they announce a new one? 3 months or so? People will simply lose interest in this line (and the 12") at this rate....

Not to be rude but I keep hearing the crap about "losing interest" in a line. If you don't hear about an update in 3 months - how serious are you really about collecting the line ? I think you need to work a little on your patience ;)

I'd be interested in a show of hands of how many people dropped the x-files line for instance when it didn't get a figure for 6 months ? I certainly didn't and while I'd be disappointed if there were no announcements for 6 months it certainly wouldn't stop me getting new releases when they come out.

POTA is another licence with a long time between drinks - but I think the POTA fans would jump on any new release.

The thing is, I don't really like the pieces announced so far (I don't care much for orcs/uruks and I HATE hobbits) so while would consider getting these 2 pieces if I knew which direction the line was going I'm simply not sure if I want to get them untill I see more pieces announced.

I'd say it has more to do with all the figures released so far (except Han and the ones released at SDCC) share almost identical costumes - therefore less work.

The LotR costumes are far more elaborate and difficult than the SW ones. And it's been demonstrated that SW collectors are far more numerous than LotR right now.

I think thats the bottom line...All 3 LOtR figures are vastly different and much more detail and take much more time to produce...

And as far as anyone "loosing interest", just wait until the first LOtR figures reach collectors hands and everyone realizes they are far superior to SW and posssibly most every other 12" line SS produces. I have said it before and I will say it again, I think this line will prove to be a crown jewel for SS.

The 12" line is pretty detailed. They seem to be knocking those ones out pretty quick.

Bullseye, did you get an "Estimated Arrival E-mail" or "Processing Notification E-mail" for the Leia Exclusive yet? Because I haven't, and I ordered her on November 5th. I don't remember if that was the day she went up for sale.

I was a little surprised with the low level of PF activity at the show. Makes me wonder if a few surprises in current devel. were held back.

I know there is at least one and I'm sure there will be more. Greg Mowry was asked which piece he was most proud of or satisfied with and he responded it was one he had just finished and that we would be seeing fairly soon.

SS is not going to disappoint.
