Just a quick question. Does anyone seal down their paintwork on their custom paint jobs on heads? I've just repainted a Sideshow head and wonder what I can use to protect the paintwork with? I've used acrylics by the way.

You can use any mate sealant designed for acrylics at hobby stores. A cheap way that I often use with good results is to spray hairspray from a long distance (too close and it's shiny!). The advantage of hairspray is you can wash it with soap if you don't like the result (and it wont affect your paint) and it dries immediately, but the pros will advise you a real sealant!

dullcoat is good stuff but remember whatever you want shiny will have to be reglossed or covered over before spraying.

Oh thank you so much for all you help guys! :D

Can you get this from any hobby store in the states? Although I'm based in the UK this figure is a present for someone in the USA and so they would have to seal it themselves over there.

Does anyone know who's UK based If theres an equiverlent over here that I could buy?

Hello! I use a combination of semigloss and flat, insteada spraying it on, I just mist it..gives some nice texture,
my 2 cents :)

Semi gloss>flat> Semi gloss
Longwinded but it works for me!

Though I have yet to sucessfully paint a 1/6 scale figure, I have repainted severall Star Wars figures and such in the past and I like to use Krylon Crystal Clear for flat and gloss and for semi-gloss Testors Dull Coat.

I've tried to seal mine with 4 coats of Testors Dull coat and the paint sill chips off. I'm also using acrylics. What am I doing wrong?
