I woke up this morning to see that thegd.com had closed down. Good luck to Gebs and thanks for the good times. The points system was addicting for sure and I will have some extra time in life now as well :)

Wow. That's too bad. I loved it over there but once it got blocked at work I haven't been around it a lot.

I loved those archieves and the articles too. It's sad to think all that information is no longer out there.

Yes the gandalf PF was given out. They had 4000 entries which was the most ever. I so wanted that puppy. Oh well. It was a fun site but didn't get the forum traffic that other sites got. But the archives were great and a shame to lose all that info. I don't know of another online source for that.

Neither do I. I followed it with it's early version when the movies and toy biz were coming out and keep coming back to it.

It'll be sorely missed as a fun place and as a information hub. Hopefully someone still has all the information and pictures especially of all the prototypes that neither saw the light of day.

Geb thanks for doing it as long as you did and I hope everything is alright with you and yours.

Geb,

I want to say thanks for keeping the doors of the Green Dragon open for as long as you have. We are sorry to see it go, but I hope that we can still share our passion for all things LOTR with you here!

you can search far an wide
you can drink the whole town dry
but you'll never find a beer so brown
but you'll never find a beer so brown
as the one we drink in our home town
as the one we drink in our home town
you can drink your fancy ales
you can drink em by the flagon
but the only brew for the brave and true...
comes from the GREEN DRAGON!

The Green Dragon is one of the first collecting sites I visited (along with the old LOTR Guide). It will be missed and good luck to Matt and the Gebhart family going forward.

Wow..that was a great site indeed. Thanks for the years of hard work and help.

Well, that's too bad - I just joined!

It was like the Yojoe.com of LOTR... Never got a chance to explore the archives fully. Too bad - it looked like a great resource! :(

Hi all, I'm a new guy here at Sideshow Freaks. I used TheGD quite a bit. It was indeed a great LOTR site :clap...one of the best IMHO. Geb put a lot of hard work into it, it was a real shame to see it close :gah:. Geb tells me he will continue to collect and will pop in from time to time as before :yess:. It will be nice to keep in contact with him :1-1:. I wish he every happiness for the future.

I just joined there recently to. What happened?

Hi Maglor, I think the site just took over Geb's life. As he is a married man with kids, he needed to get back to real life. I hope everything is okay with him and his now.

It was a great LOTR site, one of the best IMHO. A big thanks to Geb (Matt) for doing such a great job for as long as he did :clap. It's a shame to see it end .

I wish Geb every happiness for the future.

Bill

Loved The Green Dragon. I haven't been there in years because I stopped collecting LOTR, but it was my first regular internet haunt. It was a great resource. Thanks a million Geb.

:duff :frodo :duff

That site will surely be missed! :monkey2 Geb did a great service for all of us especially for all the LOTR fans all over the world! :lecture I wish him & his family all the best! :wink1:
