Im pretty sure if you refund a buyer you get your fees back.

Hell i have it done to me all the time it is a pain in the a** but if you want to sell you have to put up with it.

Scohrdarkshadows, whats your ebay name? So i can put u on my block list. Thanks.

It's a start :hi5:

If it's common practice to buy something, receive it and then return it if you change your mind (through big box and small individual ebay sellers)...why shouldn't I at least try to cancel the order before the buyer had to do the work shipping it out?

Most ebay members do allow returns, would you call somebody a former prick now misguided, for returning an item after they received it?

A part of me is also a bit miffed, since the seller rather sneakily put his return policy in small print at the end of his 2 paragraph long invoice. It was never mentioned during our interactions. So in a morality sense I'm looking at it in terms of: well if the seller had allowed returns, I have a right to cancel the order.

Don't know what to say to most of this....

It is not common practice at all for small individual ebay sellers to allow people to simply change their mind and return items. Especially not on expensive collectibles like these.

It is a simple box you can tick when creating a sales listing and I have it set to default on my profile to be 'no returns' for anything I sell so I don't even need to tick it.
(note under ebay rules, returns are still allowed for damaged items or vastly different from description)

If the seller had of allowed returns then it would be okay? Well I guess so ....but he specifically didn't....which is what most private sellers do for these products.

Is there a problem with asking? Well not really? But the seller made it clear he expects you to go through with the sale as per agreement.

As for agreeing to disagree ....that's no prob, and you seem like a good guy ...welcome to the forums :lol

Maybe take note of the fact though that there are more than a couple of long term members posting on this thread agreeing with me (and no one telling me I'm way out of line) when refusing to be swayed in your opinion.

Ebay buying and selling can be a sensitive topic here and many people refuse to go near it because of the constant hassles ....such as people changing their mind and trying to back out of auctions.... but anyway....

I do hope the figure arrives safe and sound.

Yep, you get your fees back if you refund.
I had this happen to me a few days ago.

Buyer made a "best offer" which I mulled over and accepted.
Buyer then emailed me saying "Oh, I've found it cheaper somewhere else".
Seeing as they hadn't paid I just accepted a transfer cancellation.
Fees are refunded. Huzzah!

BTW I have a "No returns" policy on all my items. This is not illegal, what this means is that if you buy from me and then suddenly decide you no longer want it then it's your problem not mine. If it gets damaged then I will of course accept returns and give a full refund (or negotiate a partial refund), as per eBays terms and conditions.

What I wont do is accept people wasting my time, money and effort by trying to return something they have decided they don't actually want anymore.

GRRRR!
Selling on eBay is only for the patient. :monkey3

Actually i'm not sure how much the seller saves by dealing directly via paypal since:

ebay = pay final sales fee, no paypal charges.

direct paypal = pay % paypal fee, no ebay fee.

both methods are covered by paypal protection.

The money back thingy works usually in physical shops where customers can just drive themselves to walmart customer service center & ask for a return & refund.

For online transaction it involves a 3rd party, the post office, and it is more a hassle to repack & pay the postage back to the seller, which the buyer has to bear, it'd be easier to just drive to the nearby mall & ask for a return than sending it back via post, it can also result in many complications like damaged goods etc.

And unless the item are damaged, not as described, faulty, i can hardly imagine folks on ebay practicing the "Oh I don't like this i want a refund" thing. The money back guarantee is a marketing gimmick for big shops to attract customers.

Calling one a "prick" is a little strong. People change their minds and return things all the time. It's pretty common in US commerce

You agreed on a purchase and sent payment. Now you're crying because he won't cancel your payment after you found the same item cheaper?...
Suck it up Buttercup!

Hope everyone here realises that they should never to deal with you.

The seller saves about 10% (ebay's fee), but still has to pay the 3% paypal fee regardless of whether it was on ebay or not.

Sounds to me the guy selling was geuine and maybe did need money for rent.
Even if not you gotta honour the agreement and enjoy the figure. If its your first then you will probably love it and cherish it, but hopefully not rub anything on it.
Nothing worse than recieving a figure covered in pubes and nob juice haha.
That image will haunt me forever:)
Gotta agree backing out before or after delivery is prickish though

Bought something recently on impulse and had 2nd thoughts but glad I didn’t muck the seller around and turned out to be a great buy.
Being a seller of things you like/love is hard enough to let go off without being ****** off.
Thank you very much much live gnight
