Not much of point to be made but I'll say it because I should be studying.
I was looking around the "show your shelves" forum. I saw a bunch of displays and rooms with striking and beautiful statues and figures. If I went to one of these guys houses and I wasn't even a fellow collector, I would say wow these are beautiful and I would examine them.
I just don't understand how some people, like my friend Sean and a lot of my other friends, won't even look twice at my statues and figures. The statues do nothing for them. Ok, Ok. That's ok, I guess, but even worse is a lot of my friends say how can you collect these things, they're weird and ugly. Sorry, I don't get it. Some truly truly talented and inspired artists have diligently created the statues and figures I display in my room.
Sean will enjoy (at least say he does) the paintings and sculptures in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Do you know what is on the huge canvas of one painting in that museum? A single solid red circle on a white canvas. wtf? I guess some people just don't know good art. Or maybe it's the stigma attached to collecting these "geeky" things. Well, I feel good that I "get it".
