I'm a technical writer approaching retirement. I love classical music, and have a huge collection of CDs and SACDs (and some remaining LPs, mostly quadraphonic and audiophile). I used to do live recording. I also like to "read", mostly non-fiction, and "think". (Anyone here remember "reading" and "thinking"?) I like photography, too, though I don't do as much as I used to.

I used to collect everything -- you know, if I saw it, I wanted it. "Action figures" were particularly attractive, when they were as nicely made as the Sideshow figures are.

As I get older and my materialism ebbs, I find I have less interest in collecting things, my sole remaining interests being sound recordings and DVDs/BDs (and L glass, perhaps).

To be honest, I'm here mostly to divest myself of most of my remaining Sideshow figures.

You'll have to reach fifty posts to use the commerce section Grizzled.

What Sideshow figures are you going to keep?

I like classical music, as well. And I'd probably be less materialistic if I always knew where my next meal was coming from. :D

I'm keeping the Frankenstein Monster and the Bride from "Bride of Frankenstein". I'd like to sell the 16 "Holy Grail" figures I have -- five kanigits, five muddy kanigits, and six of the other characters. They're all new and unopened -- the round adhesive stickers are intact.

I understand the desire to keep the group from being "hit and run" for sellers -- but 50 posts? Isn't that working against the interests who are looking for items to purchase?

It's not the hit and run membership that caused the 50 post limit to be applied. It was the hit and run off with the money and the item, that started happening all too frequently, that caused the limit to be applied. Even so, people are still suspicious of those who start a sale thread as soon as they hit the 50 post mark. Posts can't be frivolous in nature either. I don't use the commerce section myself, so I'm a little out of touch with the actual rules. Here's the link https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31116

Anyway, nice to see you're a Uni Monster fan. :rock

Welcome.

I appreciate the site manager's desire to protect people from fraud. (I've bought and sold in other groups, without any problems. It is unfortunate that you've become a target for the dishonest.) However, I'm not a figure-collection freak, and can't imagine someone having posted over 25,000 times. (I post regularly to Flickr's "Polaroid" thread, but that's mostly because I'm helping people, not just talking. I have other interests.)

It's obvious I don't belong here. (That isn't intended as either a criticism of myself, or a compliment to this group.) I will bid a polite "farewell", and say "Thank you for your initial intererst." I will find some other venue to sell the figures.
