I have a co-worker that is HUGE military freak, so much so sometimes I cant stand to talk to him because he always finds a way to turn every conversation into something military related. Anyway, he frequents a message board pretty much like the freak board only for military stuff. Last night he was telling me about this board member on the board that is pretty much a regular. Thousands of post, always in every thread, much like Josh1. He told me that recently he had got a divorce and was going through some really tough times through the holidays. Then he got some bad news about his health and was feeling pretty depressed about the whole thing. Much the same as we do here, other board members were giving him support and telling him to hang in there. So my co-worker told me that he just dropped off the board about a week before X-mas. Everyone was getting kinda worried about him, so one of the board members e-mailed the local police department( he was in England somewhere) and gave them the run down. That he was a regular, then just disappeared from the board, and given his current metal state people were worried about him. So, they local police go to this dude house and find him locked up inside, having had a total emotional/mental breakdown. He is currently in a home receiving care for severe depression.

Kinda crazy to think that a message board possibly saved this mans life.

Anyway, just a wild story I thought I would share here.

P.S. If you guys don't see me post here for a long number of days, please don't contact the police. Theres a damn good chance I skipped town for something illegal.

Sadly Kumar, this is pretty much true:eek:

That's nuts. Hopefully he recovers quickly and can get back to living life.

Nice work on those board members part.

Yeah, that's crazy.... And it just goes to show you that we all care for each other on these damn forums... It's not just a place to act silly and talk about our passions. It's a group of friends that you may never actually meet, but you grow to depend on one another over time and many many posts....

Good on the board members for being so industrious and sending someone over.... Guy might have taken his own life.

I hope he recovers.... Depression is not an easy bug to fix... I had my bout with it in my teens and in the military... Hard for me to get over, took years.

I hope he ends up Ok, I mean at least he has the board as friends.

BTW--If I ever stop posting for a while, assume I'm dead, because I'll either announce I'm leaving or find some way to continue posting.

That is a wild story. I'm somewhat in the urban legend camp (lol) but I hope the guy ends up all right in the end. I'm a sucker for a happy ending!

If I don't post for days right now it's because we are trying to buy a house. A lot of time, energy and money is going there.

Or like King and the most of the rest of the Kurgans, it means I'm hiding from Johnny Law. :D

Seriously, it is good the guy had some sort of support network. Life can throw you a curveball or two. It's good to have friends to help you out of the slump.
