Anyone ever use Amazon to sell stuff? What was your experience like? Any 'catches'?

Hi Matt,

I would never ever ever sell collectibles on Amazon. Just a bad idea - eBay is a better place to sell, there is more protection for you there. If you sell on Amazon, basically the customer has all the advantages - I've sold a lot on there, just not collectibles. Now most of the time it goes great, but every once in awhile you get an irrational nasty customer and you have to cut your losses, and with collectibles you can stand to lose a lot because it doesn't matter whether you're in the right or wrong, the customer is always right on Amazon.

So if you DO decide to do business on Amazon, it's not a matter of if - it's only a matter of when these people cross your path who can really cost you a lot. Granted that's a cost of doing business anywhere, but Amazon is all for the customer. So buy from them, but don't sell through them - especially expensive stuff - that's my advice for what it's worth.

I wish you all the best wherever you sell.

Kind Regards,
Ken

Agreed, also they take a pretty large percentage of what you sell, I’m not sure but I believe its around 15% of what you make.

Yes 15% sounds right. Selling on eBay they take 10% plus PayPal is around another 3 or 4%, but it's still a little cheaper than Amazon. Also Amazon is much more restrictive, even when it comes to how much you can charge for shipping.

sold one of my Diablo novel like 2 yrs ago. made some profit but wouldn't do statue collectible there.

Ebay had more protection for sellers? I didnt know ebay had any protection anymore.

Amazon is so shady they advertise the items as new but in reality the seller just put tape on old tape, I just never got around to telling on the seller out.
