for some strange reason I really really cannot paint good hair... I'm not sure if its just the recent trev indy sculpt that I painted, but I can't seem to get the right paint detail on hair... anyone wanna help me out? all my attempts come out looking kinda dull..

Hi venakin.

You must put a darker color first base to cover all their hair. Then, you must apply a lighter color with the brush dry and go without water rubbing color above, only in the upper parts of the hair, leaving darker down.

This is more or less what I do. Using a thicker brush with hair cut to better rub. Sorry for my bad english

Greetings, Rj

Yep Restaurajones is spoton use the technic he suggested and you can't go wrong. But just make sure when you do drybrush you have next to no paint left on the brush and you'll do well.

Great advice. I would also make sure when you dry brush the hair, you do it across the grain. You don't want the color you're adding to fall into the crevices but only to sit on top.

If you have the patience, you can do two or three colors.

Dark for the base.

A little lighter over that.

much lighter in the the spots where the light might hit. The front, the highest points, etc.

Good luck and post your results!! Lots of people would love to see and learn I'm sure.

Another little tip... pay close attention to the hairline, you want the hair there to be lighter, and also some dark skin tone in the hairline as well...to blend the hair and make it look more real. Nobody has a clean line for a hairline, unless they actually shave a line there... and even then you can see a little scalp through the hair there.
