Surprised to see that people are not feeling like gollum is a top character.

If you ask me what are the most iconic LOTR characters in this order I would go…

Gandalf, Frodo, Gollum and then Aragorn.

That’s the Mount Rushmore IMO. The rest of the characters trail after those 4
Don’t forget Sauron !

Personally I might put Saruoman on there before Sauron… not negating his importance to the story but apart from his brief (but albeit very cool looking) flashback scene he’s mostly an entity and I find that a bit harder to reach iconic status.

When I think iconic status I think globally and instantly pictured or recognized without question when someone mentions LOTR.

Opened up my detolf to fix old Bilbo and man, Gollum really is a stinky figure!

"Hey stinker!"

Still no invoice for me, either.

Is it a paint smell? Putting him in a box with some charcoal overnight might knock down some of that smell.

No invoice for me yet, either. Sent another email as they told me to.

Yeah. It might be a paint smell. But not a pleasant paint smell.

I am the kind of collector who loves the smell of a brand new figure. This isn't that kind of smell. It might even be the materials used to make the body. :dunno

I leaning towards passing on this. Seems like ages ago now when I spent the $20 on the preorder. But it was mainly driven by FOMO for my collection.

After reflecting on it some more, I’m really content with having just the nine members of the Fellowship. I like the representation of the main heroes for my display. I’ve already passed on Elrond, Saruman, Galadriel, Arwen, Faramir, et al. I‘ve got two Gandalfs now and once InArt releases Aragorn I’ll have two Aragorns. I’m seriously running out of room to store boxes!

Those are good reasons to pass on it right?… Right?… 😜

I'm passing, event tho think Gollum is a significant character. I've already picked up more LOTR than I even thought I would - and Where. Is. Thranduil.

I still need a GTG head, too.

But, laughed so hard at the thought of the careful, serious crafting that must have gone on in the factory, to insure Gollum has, er., all the bits. All the bad ***** I own, from Mando to Cap & co, none are so blessed. :monkey3

I'd be tempted to pick this up and do the same mods Raymond did with his, but then there's still the issue of that body. This is a figure that really needs to be in a crouching pose, and I'm not feeling confident the legs would hold up very long in that position.

Just received my Gollum/Sméagol set. 1st thoughts: it looks much better in hand than in pictures. For some reason pictures can't capture the subtle details, and make him look much cheaper than it is. I didn't receive the cap, not a deal breaker, you know, but so you know, that not everyone comes with it. The movable eyes and head attachment is a design disaster. Can't understand how it's been greenlighted as is. Anyway I managed to take off the inner head plastic piece that makes impossible to keep the eyes in position, and I'm happy to report that once getting rid of it the eyes work much better. Not sure what this piece is for. Maybe gives a bit of extra friction to keep the head position, dunno. Anyway managed to get a decent pose with the eyes looking at a side, so probably not moving him again in a while. It definitely stinks quite a bit. Looks like it's the hands, but not sure. Someone with better olfative skills will confirm. The rock with the pond and fish looks great. The ring and fish are nice additions.
All in all, pretty happy having him in my collection. Not perfect, but looks great in the shelf. Definitely not 20$ toy looking at all.

Can anyone else who has both Smeagol and Gollum chime in and/or show pictures comparing the head sculpts?

I'm only getting one or the other but am still torn between the two- in some photos it seems like Gollum may have the better likeness but he's going to be on a LotR shelf alongside Aragorn, Frodo, and Gandalf, so it seems like "good guy" Smeagol would make more sense for me.

What do you guys think?
