Hi Guys
Don't really want to start a debate but would like a few opinions.I know its down to personal preference and COST:google but i have several attakus pieces and have no chance of getting the earlier grails due to cost Vader,Boba etc.The pieces i have are OBI,Padme,Luke,Jango,Crumb,Leia,Clonetrooper,Han in Carb,Jawa and a Clonetrooper.I couldnt get rid of the Clonetrooper,Jango or the jawa as i love these pieces and think they will be hard to beat by any other manufacturer, but would you guys sell the remaining to fund the sideshow collection allowing me to get in at the start hence a more complete future collection?Luke is really cheap at the minute plus i think han may follow suit i also have the exclusive vader and grevious on preorder.Do you guys expect Obi to be difficult to get on evilbay or a LCS as people will want the "Scene with Vader?
Cheers

Hi, I would keep the three and sell the rest, personally as I don't think they are worth it; then get the sideshow ones with the funds; then I would see if the prices of the attakus ones fall as SS stuff is out and buy an attakus vader and boba fett because they are really good productions- I have them. My opinion only.

I would. I think when it's all said and done SS stuff will really top anyones SW products. I still prefer straight statues but SS stuff is so amazing that I can easily look past the fact they aren't straight statues.

Yes i cant get past the mixed media myself ,although i did buy the Green Goblin which is great.I think mixed media is just an expensive action man or dare i say lazy/easier to produce at a reduced cost.

Actually the PF would be harder to make because of all the detail and thats why they cost more than the statues.

Bear in mind that your asking your question on a Sideshow FREAKS message board  .....not a Attakus m.b.. :D .

Now that must be one of the strangest statements I've ever seen..

Why's that because he didn't like Attakus pieces as much as the SS pieces they've seen?

No, I don't discuss personal taste , how wrong it may be.. ;) No , because he says he owned a majority of the Attakus and hated them. "A majority of the Attakus" is quite a few statues! And why in earth would someone buy statues you hate!?? unless he bought them all at once, wich is very unlikely, it is very weird, IMO. Let 's just say I don't understand it. ;)

btw, What have we seen of Sideshow so far (SW speaking)? Luke, Han and Vader. And I think most of us haven't probably even seen those last two, or at least that last one (Vader) in real life. So it is very soon to already compare Attakus with SS I think.

I don't find it all that unreasonable to imagine that they have owned them. They could have also bought them and sold them off and on during the time they had them hoping the next one would be one they like.

As far as compairing Attakus to SS well I don't feel there is much of a compairison.:peace

I have the SS DV exclusive on its way to me and i can't wait. But if i would have the Attakus DV1 over the SS DV E anyday. With regards to the rest of the line its too early to say.

Having seen the Vader 1 at SDCC last year and being able to really stare at the updated SS Vader after looking at it at SDCC. I don't think the Vader 1 comes close to being as cool as this piece.

I own the Attakus Vader 1 and the Boba Fett and they are two of the best statues EVER produced, especially Vader. I haven't checked what they go for recently but I seriously doubt any other future sculpts from SS or any other company are going to decrease the value of these. If you can afford them, get 'em!

I don't think they will decrease either just like I don't think the SS LOTR stuff will hurt the SSW statues.

The value of a collectible on the secondary market doesn't mean squat to me. It's what the piece means to me that makes it valuable.

I'm a big fan of the non-human Attakus statue's; but, their inability to capture a decent human likeness of SW characters soured me on the line.
This is just a nit-pick, but I also never realized, until receiving the SS Vader, how small the helmet on both their Vader statue's are in comparison to their bodies. Comparing to the SS Vader, it's easy to see truly how off the Attakus helmets are. Still, it's a nit-pick, and if Attakus had better human sculpts, their Vader helmet issues would be something I could easily overlook.

What makes the SS Vader the "definitive" Vader, for me, is how wonderfully SS captured the costume. There is only so much that can be done with a fully sculpted statue, and SS has overcome this limitation by utilizing different materials to make it more true to what we saw in the movies. On top of that, their human sculpts are far better than any Attakus has ever made. These are the reasons I went with SS in the end. I figured if I ended up not liking them, I could always go back to Attakus or GG (which also make fine statue's). SS has truly blown me away, though, with what they've created with the SW PF line.

Well so far we ony have 3 Sideshow PF's in hand. The Sideshow Vader is awesome, I was really surprised seeing it in hand. But Luke and Han are a big "bust". The paint apps on these ruined the sculpts. And it really hurts the line, being that these characters are essentials. But they do go cheap on ebay now. Exclusive Han is a low edition only thing helping him. But all the others should be fairly easy to get. I imagine all the Star Wars PF will be selling way under retail, even the ones not out. Except for Vader, he should rise in time.

Gen. G should match Vader in being another great statue, but Sideshow must regain the steam with Obi Wan and Leia. The human characters always have problems.

The other problem is the edition sizes. Too high, another reason why Han and Luke go dirt cheap on ebay.

I'm surprised at all the praises of the PF line when Luke and Han somewhat off.

Ditto on that MR.

I'm with ya. I'm truly blown away by how good the final version of Vader turned out. This piece really is amazing.
