Greetings gang!

For the last 3 years, this has been my "pet project"... FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT

This is a full-length stage play that I have written, produced, and directed as a showcase for the young actors that have been studying as my Performing Arts students.

FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT tells the story of the creation of the Batman mythology in 1939 by Bob Kane, Bill Finger, and Jerry Robinson. The play also features exciting vignettes of the iconic characters of Gotham City as they are created by the three artists.

The play has just had a successful three-performance run at DeWitt Clinton High School Campus (the alma mater of Bob Kane, and Bill Finger - class of 1933!) And now, plans are underway for an exciting SECOND RUN of performances early next year!!

Opening Night of FATHERS OF THE DARK KNIGHT proved to be a STUNNING performance from my entire cast and crew!

What a journey this has been! The final product was more exciting than I could ever have dreamed!! Seeing my vision finally come to life on stage was a feeling I don't have the words to adequately describe!!


I still get goosebumps when I recall the opening overture of Act II (after intermission is over)...

The audience re-enters the auditorium to a GRAND orchestral score blaring from the sound system. At just the right cymbal crash, the BAT-SYMBOL projection appears on the closed stage curtain and majestically begins to sweep the side walls and ceiling of the space. Moments later, the curtain parts to reveal Police Commissioner James Gordon standing on the rooftop of Police Headquarters, signalling for the Dynamic Duo with his enormous Bat-Signal searchlight!! Whew!!!

You can actually hear the audience gasp with excitement each time that sequence plays out.

Gordon has summoned The Batman and Robin to help deal with a new threat against Gotham City... in the form of a Riddle!!

After The Batman and Robin decipher the clues and find Edward "The Riddler" Nygma's location, the villain, naturally, has a SHOCKING death trap waiting!

But just when things look bleakest for our intrepid Dynamic Duo, a mysterious red-haired stranger in a Bat-costume defeats The Riddler and saves their lives!!

When the commissioner and his SWAT team arrive, they are all stunned and puzzled by The Riddler's defeat!

From months of rehearsals in my cramped living room...

... to weeks of set construction in my back courtyard...

... to the endless hair and makeup tests

... to tests of the BAT rod-puppet for the fateful scene in Bruce Wayne's study...

... to the tedium of load-in...

...to fight rehearsals, selfies, and shenannegans in the dressing room...

... to rehearsals on stage...

Psychotic Harley Quinn packs a whallop of a surprise for an un-suspecting Robin The Boy Wonder!

But The Joker seems less than thrilled when he steps on stage to inspect his prize. He even demonstrates his displeasure on one of his own hapless henchmen!

The Joker tries to offer words of comfort to the Boy Wonder, but it is too late. He is out for the count! Oh well !! Another pleasant calling card for Batsy!!!!

When Harley tries to make light of the situation, a furious Joker reminds her that HE is the one who delivers ALL punchlines!

After The Joker leaves, a dismayed Harley Quinn tells her all troubles to a badly injured and unconscious Robin The Boy Wonder.

The Joker declares victory over his foe as he prepares to launch and destroy the city!

But even as two heroes arrive to thwart his plans...

...the tables turn awfully quickly!

But eventually (of course) THE BATMAN gets free. He and THE JOKER have a spectacular battle to the finish!!
