Didn't the original series end because the manga artist threw a tantrum over the anime, so he never finished it?

I never knew why but it was justing getting dark and they stopped it.With this new reboot i was hoping it would keep going but i dont know if there is news--- anyone with news ?

So many stories going around it was to brutal/violet to watch and they wanted it contained on 25 episodes.The manga artist is the author as well the manga still isn't finished by him throwing a fit wouldn't surprise me .
