Hi - I am assembling a shrine to my favorite marvel character: the silver surfer. Which are the best silver surfer statues out there according to you? I already have all the Bowen ones. Cheers.

I think its the Silver Surfer Comiquette... not the standard Sideshow one though. Only the custom version of it (chromed with the base painted to look like space). Just Google custom silver surfer comiquette and you'll see.

I know you have them already but IMO, no one does SS like Randy Bowen. The museum and action Surfers are ridiculously well done. Randy just has a great grasp of the character and is able to capture the essence of the Surfer in all of his sculpts. I had the SSC EX COM but I sold it. Too many seams in the piece for me and I never really liked any of the head sculpts that came with the piece. The foreheads and expressions on all three portraits didn't do it for me, personally. However, any Surfer sculpt by Randy Bowen is worth adding to a Surfer collection. In my book, Randy sculpts the BEST Surfer statues.

To answer your question though, the best Surfer statue on the market for me is the BD chrome museum Surfer. It just looks phenomenal.

I think you are right. Aside from the sideshow one and the Bowens which I own, are there any companies that make a decent silver surfer statue that's should add to my collection?

Try looking at the Creative License 30th anniversery, Attakus, Art Asylum, and Hard Hero Surfer statues. Those are the only other Surfer statues I can think of. You might like some of those.

Bowen Designs chrome museum Silver Surfer....the rest are battling for a distant second.

I have to agree with you. I don't own one, but its definitely at the top of my wish list. I have the Bowen action SS and I would trade in a heartbeat for the chrome museum. I'm not a big fan of the SSC pose. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but something has always struck me as awkward about it.

I wasn't a fan of the SS piece either until those chrome custom paintjobs started showing up. Then my jaw hit the floor. It completely erases all issues I had with the piece which was

A) noticeable seems

B) ugly face

C) weird arm pose

The chrome makes the seems difficult to find as well as washes out any ugly face detail due to the reflectiveness of it. The chrome also makes the arms "flow" better if that makes sense. He actually looks fluid now, like he's made of silver.

Dammit I need one of these. I neeeeeeed one.

Yeah, I have the Bats and Supes PF in the space I used to have my Surfer COM. I sold the Surfer COM mainly because I needed the room. Once SSC received the DC license, I had to sell off a few older pieces to make room (and some extra $$$).
