Easy rules here...any manufacturer, any line and just one that you added to your collection this year....please include a shot.

There were certainly a lot of contenders for me this year, especially from The Mandalorian line. And while there were many fine figures I enjoyed from the show, it was another character from SW that received a welcome update from HT that landed in the top spot for me...

QUI-GON JINN 054.jpg

Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn from Hot Toys. There was a lot of the usual back-n-forth in here regarding the "accuracy" of the portrait, but for me it caught the strong, leonine features of Neeson's portrayal of the venerable Jedi to look really good. The materials employed for the outfit are excellent are well-rendered and it was cool of HT to include the poncho that Jinn wore on Tatooine. It was far and away my favorite figure from 2021!

Let's see yours!

I was going to say, without question, Dragon in Dream's Hauptmann Wilhelm.

Then I remembered LiM Toys' Arthur Morgan.

The set was so loaded with weapons, equipment, outfits and hair and beard options that one box was never going to cut it, and two boxes made four figures possible. Best overall bang for the buck in 2021!

Wilhelm has to take the very close runner up spot.

I don't feel 2021 has been a very good year for 1/6 figure releases overall, was a much better year for very desirable preorders. Unless I am overlooking something I think for me it's a close fight between Heavy Mando and IG-11 with Heavy Mando barely winning out.

My vote goes to Lando.
The head sculpt turned out better than anticipated. And while the cape is a pain to get right, I can overlook that because a hole in my OT collection has finally been filled.

Cant think of anything that has been a must get for me either? I think maybe HT's time at the top is coming to an end. Seems like a lot of other 1/6 scale companies are at HT's level now. DamToys, Blitzway & Kaustic Plastik have all upped their game and even 3rd party companies can almost compete with them quality wise. Im thinking Lim Toys Gunslinger.

This year is probably the easiest ever to pick just one: Jazzinc’s Iron Scavenger. So much care has been put into this figure, the engineering, the painting, the commitment to realizing it as close as possible to accuracy given the size of the thing. Endlessly posesble and photogenic.

Which leads me to the industry as a whole. While HT is still heavily dominant there are so many up and coming licensed and third party companies I can see myself becoming much picker and moving away from HT. Just looking at what Joost has coming up, I can see myself dedicating to just that, and then getting figures to complement those projects when necessary.

I think the Armorer impressed me the most although it was a tough decision this year with all the great HT Mando and 3rd party figures that landed.

The paint work, armor sculpting and leather bits on this one is just stellar.
That looks magnificent Coco :clap.

I’m with you Coco. Armorer is at the top of my list as is shockingly the Tusken Raider even with the HT stock robe. Just something about that figure. And lastly Rex. Those would likely be my top 3

When I consider the possible choices for figure of the year 2021, it really comes down to a competition between two…the Mandalorian Scout Trooper and First Contact Data.
The Scout Trooper was a figure I was going to pass on until I saw it in the store. It is one of those figures that transcends the line from a toy to looking like an act person in costume.
As much as I am enjoying the 3 that I bought, I really am so impressed with First Contact Data. I love my QMX figures but Nanjin is bringing so much love to this line. I am certainly rethinking my budget as I am going all in on Deep Space Nine, Next Generation and the Original Series.
It will be exciting to see what makes the 2022 list.

I like DS9, I'll be choosier with that line. It'll be hard to resist though I really wish they wouldn't make them in those drab FC uniforms.

The Kelvin movies though I would get everything from.
